Outworked by East Freo and smashed through the middle which was highlighted by 62 to 36 inside 50s. I'd like to see the clearance numbers but think we probably lost it convincingly even though Clarke dominated the ruck knocks.

21 scoring shots from our 36 inside 50s suggests we were pretty efficient when we got it in there but just couldn't convert and bad kicking is bad footy.

Sharks were far cleaner with their disposals and we turned it over too easily with young McGowan the main culprit coming out of D50. Clarke very good, Savigni, Heal, Dewar all tried hard, Giro, Max, Alone had their moments but beaten on the day by a better side. Good to see Mayo get through and contribute to what was otherwise a dirty day with the ressies going down as well.

Did anyone see what happened to Schofield as he was missing for a big chunk of the game and Braut might be in a bit of strife for an indiscretion as well. Very disappointing after three pretty goods weeks previously.

Couldn't make it down for various reasons, watched the first half before the stream went down for most of the 3rd qtr, maybe not a bad thing.

Agree with all you said BC, despite ruck dominance, our mids were monstered, they were bigger faster more aggressive and had a couple of forwards who cut us up, particularly Leggett. I think the signs were there in the second half last week when all of a sudden we started to miss targets, same yesterday, the number of times we missed open targets only to see it go over their heads into a sharks hands. They worked much harder and were so much cleaner. A couple of big hits on Sok and Hickmont, but both came back on ok. Braut got in a pretty good rib tickler to Mad dog, so he might get a holiday although the umps didn't do anything or maybe didn't see it. When I saw Braut on Marsh, i thought something was going to happen.

After 2 and half great games v CL, Joondy and SF we have really dropped away, maybe good that the state bye is next week, then the Swannies back at Leederville.

I saw marsh in pain but didn't realise braut was the cause. Thanks SS.

On another negative note, two ex subi players in disgrace in the Sunday times today. Thankfully subiaco is not mentioned in either case.

JL one of the boys on the EF thread said that Mad Dog had injured a shoulder, so maybe I was mistaken about Braut, but he was right with Marsh when he went down like the proverbial bag of ....

Yes, paper said braut was reported for striking some one else. Marsh and Dixon didn't offer much up front. Riley wasn't bad and leggit got lucky, I reckon . Everything went wrong on Saturday. I  reckon things could go better another time with a bit more luck and focus. No 50m penalties, for example. Putting more pressure on leggit, too. Ditto, Murdoch and Eardly.

There were a couple of big shit mixers by the EF boys on Hickmont and Sok that somehow were missed by the umps, but hey thats footy these days, the Umps are very "hit and miss".

JL considering Marsh got injured in the 2nd quarter and Dixon went up against Clarke as EF designated number 1 ruck. I can see why both those boys didn't provide much up forward for EF. More surprised Subi's defence didn't keep EF to a lower score....few gooduns in that area for Subi.

Though agree Subi's forward line on another day would definitely be a handful for most WAFL defences....especially with Mayo back on the park. Marlin on debut for EF, surprised by keeping Subi's form forward of late in Borchet, under wraps. Whilst the skipper kept Sokol to one goal...though the likes of Murdock, Jackson, Bennett etc did all the damage dominating the midfield battle.

Both sides will be challenging for a top five spot.....quietly confident EF will continue to improve, especially with the likes of Boekhorst, HMarsh, Joyce, Lester-Smith, Meade and Bailey all due to return in the coming 2 - 4 weeks

The stats tell the tale Freez. Subi were far more efficient when inside forward 50 as we scored 58% of the time but at just 36 inside 50s, we didn't get it in there enough so no issues with our forwards other than their poor kicking for goal which didn't help.

Subi backs did pretty well too as they repelled the ball from inside defensive 50 on 63% of occasions and EF scored on 37% but given it went inside 62 times, it was enough for EF to kick a winning score, so the backs were ok as well.

So if Subi's forwards and backs did reasonably well based on stats, it all adds up to the Sharks dominance through the middle. Both sides had the same amount of kicks but EF were +30 in handballs which were largely used transitioning through the middle of the ground. If you lose clearances and the midfield battle, generally you lose the game unless someone pulls a rabbit out of their hat or a hare (hair) out of their arse and kicks 10.

Interesting stat's, BC.  What stood out to me was the pace that EF went forward at. They steamed out of our backline. I wonder if we're not a bit slow. Mayo on the wing at times didn't help there.

Freeze,  sounds like ef have some real upside.
