Loved the game and the attacking intent of both sides. The third quarter was a cracking contest and Perth threw everything but maybe cooked themselves.
As always in round 1 skills were sloppy early and some new players took time to find the pace of the game but some real upside

Not a bad win after being a few goals down at qtr time. Giro bog, Clarke, Maxy, Sokol and Braut all solid. Snadden continues his new found vigour but will no doubt have a holiday after being sent off. Liked the look of youngsters Tholstrup, McGowan and Wagen, Berenger was solid and gutsy and Hickmott again did his job well. I hope Schoey is better than what he showed today. Will have to lift a lot to match the better teams imo, still spewing we have lost our best recruit for the year, he will be hard to replace and his loss will cost us

Kane Johnston, 197cm came from Peel last year. Shows promise. That was a great grab.

A pretty decent effort considering the number of new guys in the team. I was a bit nervous at qtr time and thinking that if Perth get the first goal of the second qtr, we're in trouble as it would have taken them out to 27 points or similar.

I really like the bold game plan of taking it through the corridor and our transition from back to forward was very good with multiple chains of handpassing and accurate kicks. It seems to be the latest style and last night it worked. Braut is not a CHF so not sure where that's going but at the moment, I guess it's the best option until Borchet, Mayo or someone else steps up as Sokol was really our only target last night.

Very impressed by young Tholstrup and Berenger whilst McGowan got plenty of it but made some terrible errors. He's only young and playing his first game so will get better. How good was it to get a true ruckman giving our mids first use? Clarke didn't miss a beat and will be very important as the season progresses.

I think we're a key forward and a couple of inside mids away from challenging the top sides based on last night's performance but I also believe there's a fair bit to work with. The usual stagers like Giro, Kitch, Heal, Hickmott, Soks, Max were front and centre in bringing home the win but it's the young guys like the aforementioned first gamers and others like Savigni, Ash, Hitchcock, Wagenknecht who are getting me excited that's for sure.

thought robbins and co provided us more run in that 3rd qtr and gave us some breathing space. Sokol braut rohde great...jacko great debut!

The D's really jumped us in the first qtr with pace and fast ball movement and had good marking targets up forward. Turned it all around nicely in the second with much more intensity and tackling pressure which meant their delivery into their forwards was poor which brought the old guard of Heal, Gus and Rohde into the game, they were terrific, along with Savigni who is just getting better and better and young Mcgowan who is going to be a very good player, might be the much needed small back to replace Kennedy. Sok was dominant, real 4qtr effort but as others have said ne needs support. Braut was good but CHF not his possy. The mids were good, benefitting from Zac's dominance, Giro bog, Hickmont, Maxy, Kitch, Ash etc all good, Robbins in the 3rd qtr lit the joint up with his pace. So plenty of good signs. Mayo was moving ok in the ressies but expect he will play there again next week, Borch was quiet but the other Hickmont was dominant and should push for a league spot next week. Re Snadden, apparently the new rule is that if your involved in a collision and your opponent has to do a concussion test you get blue carded and have to go off for the same amount of time whether its a reportable offence or not, very strange rule. Snadds was not reported according to Capes, our CEO, so thats good news.

Next week against the Ferals will be a much tougher test, they have a very good group of mids and a monster ruckman in Jones, although he is not a leaping type so hopefully Clarke and Wagen-trains can jump over him. The Ferals faded badly against the ducks, whereas we finished the game very well so that should count in our favour. Should be a cracker of a game in what is shaping as a pretty even comp.

We played the ball too much early, something confirmed by the sending off. We need to fix the accuracy in front of goal.
