So back to footy this Saturday against a very in form EF team who took us apart with ease a few weeks ago (what is with the fixtures!!). They wont have Teakle who dominated the hitouts and was very good around the ground, but they seem to have not missed a beat since then.

Will be interesting to see if we get any of the injured players back like Braut, Marsh and Atkinson all premiership players plus Snadden who is yet to show anything near his potential. We were very competetive v SD for a half and blew it by horrible inaccuracy. If we are to be any chance we need to take every opportunity and have a lot of luck going our way

The weather on match day around the grounds is forecasted to be raining. Will be a day of wet weather footy apparently. Is this the SportFM match of the day?

No Aaron Heal or Chad Harris...not sure where they are and also Braut named as an emergency but not listed in the ressies which suggests he'll come in.  Marsh is back in which is a bonus.

That backline bears little resemblance to our great backlines that were the basis of our flag years, no Heal, Kennedy or Lockyer!! Obviously Marsh wont line up at CHB.

Snadden gets another chance, he really needs to show something this time. They still prefer Putt to Eaton which has got me stumped. Good to see Breman back, he needs to be given a good run of opportunities, injuries aside he should play through to seasons end. With Walters Breman Sok and Borch up forward, all we need is some reasonable supply and we can kick a winning score if the conversion rate is better than the last game. I'd like to see Stainsby and Stergiou use their pace more and take the game on from halfback, cant rely on the mids having to do the hard yards for the inside 50's.

Forecast is for a wet day so it needs to be simple straight forward footy, dont over use the footy and we might have half a chance.

Agree on breman. Paparone is very small. Good luck to him. Mullane unlucky. Obvious talent.

Easts too quick for us. Too vigorous. But good signs from savigni.

Paparone never got a run at it but a dubious selection in the conditions. The putt project continues. He's getting more vigorous. A likeable footballer.  Matera senior tried hard. Braut a welcome inclusion. Hickmonts good. Kitch a terrier as usual. Good on him. Plays his heart out.

The winner of that game was always going to be a toss of the coin considering the conditions and that's how it played out. East Freo won the toss, kicked to the southern end with a strong following breeze before the rain started and had 4 goals to nil when it bucketed down and that was the difference in the end.

Very difficult playing conditions but thought the Hickmott's were good, Snadden had his best game for us, Giro with great clean hands in the wet and Kitch. Speaking of Giro, whoever was running the rotations needed a kick in the arse. Giro handled the wet better than anyone on the ground but spent long periods on the sidelines trying to get back on due to the play being over on the other side. There should have been set minutes played before whomever he was to replace came off no matter the state of play. Giro spent too much time on the boundary.

I also thought East Freo got the rub of the maggots for the first half or so and while it didn't determine the outcome of the game, it was frustrating for Subi players and supporters.

Delahunty a late out wasn't ideal but he seemed to be moving ok in the grandstand and Harris was the runner so not sure why he missed. Our backline is a shadow of its former self with only Litherland and Stainsby from last year's GF back six so it's always going to be tough for the new guys coming in.

It's important now to finish off the season strongly so we have impetus going into next year and keep giving the young blokes a go. The only upside is that our colts and ressies are both going well so there should be some talent to bring through over the next year or so.

Good summary BC, Kitch looked to be carrying an ankle in the second half but as expected he guts it out, heart as big as Phar lap that bloke. Dela has a broken thumb, he did a week or two ago, Heal had work commitments and Rhodes I believe is away on Hols?????

I worked out we were missing Heal, Rhodes, Lockyer, Kennedy, Dela & Harris, all state/premiership players off this years list, so not a bad effort against the second best team in the comp to stick with them after that initial 4 goal burst. Hickmonts, Kitch, Giro very good, Savigni certainly looks to have the goods, Braut was a welcome inclusion and played well first up, his strength and accurate disposal on both sides was important. Snadden was good, at last and should gain some confidence from that showing, Putt was up against it with Goddard, but showed a bit more aggression, must be that new "Hitler youth" haircut.

Agree re the umps, terribly inconsistent especially with what was an wasn't a mark in the conditions, but no impact on the result, just frustration for us and the players to have to deal with this level of incompetence. And can someone please teach the boundary umpires to throw in straight and if they struggle to get depth in their throw ins, come in 5+ metres to throw in like they do for the womens game.

We desperately need a quality ruckman to mentor the young blokes, that should be an absolute priority given Dela wont be there next year. If we have everyone available, like the blokes listed above plus Mayo, we can be competitive next year but there will definitely be some big gaps that we need experience players to fill, Ruck, mids and backs given Locks wont be back till mid late next year, if at all.

I agree that the Sharks got the rub of the green early in the game, but it levelled out.  Considering the conditions, I thought the umps went really well and tried to keep the game flowing.  Maybe some would think that I’m being easy on them, but all these years later, I still remember what it’s like to umpire in absolute crap conditions.
