Yes mate...Subi and EP are trying to take over the long term lease or even full ownership of Leederville from the council so they can develop it and manage the facility more effectively. The council is not keen on tipping money into the place and is currently costing them so EP and Subi have offered to take it off their hands.

at the east perth agm it was mentioned again the lack of interest by city of vincent in doing maintenance.if one of the lighting panels goes for the light tower it was a very expensive to replace.lighting towers are sub standard for night games.i would think both clubs think the money they pay to the council would be better used to maintain leederville oval.hopefully they can get some goverment assistance to fix the lighting issue.

Wouldn't have thought two WAFL (let alone one) could cover the costs of a ground like Leederville. Needs new lights and complete resurfacing to remove the mud. Would have thought an investment in new lights would have a positive return for the Council considering the popularity of night football in the mid 2000s. I remember spending lots of $ at the local restaurants etc back in those days.

Night football had some good crowds in the first 5 weeks of the season.

Think this proposal will need considerable Govt investment, perhaps expanding the use of the facility. Still thinks its one of the top 3 grounds in the WAFL

the article mentions that having a lease would allow them to drive their own ground redelopment which would include two new clubrooms and seperate commercial and residential components.

Subis facilities are good I dont know about EP's but they appear a bit rundown, so they may need some money for that. There is a large parcel of land at the northern end that is ripe for development, (plus the area behind the tin shed north of the subi clubrooms) mixed use commercial -residential would provide a nice return for the clubs, but they need that $1 peppercorn rent from Vincent to make it viable. No reason why SU/EP shouldn't get Government money given the millions spent at Joondy, Claremont, Rushton, Lathlain, prosed millions to be spent at EF and Freo ovals. The other oval in dire need is Basso.

SS I saw plans a couple of years ago to redevelop the tin shed area north of the social premises into a players zone complete with a new gym, recovery/medical areas, lap pool etc. During downtimes like mid week and the off season it would be available to the public. I'm not sure if that's still the go but looked impressive in the development stage.

Subi's club facilities are actually quite modest now compared to some of the other recent club developments

Leederville oval certainly has potential, perhaps even developing the rec centre on the eastern side and having shared use of some of those facilities.

Is the shared proposal for east freo and south frea at freo oval now dead in the water?

The condition of Leederville is pretty bad , the city of Vincent have really let it go.

Subis club house is a shoe box - about what most country clubs have but even smaller than a lot, its probably suitable for WAFL of 2021 particularly for SFC modest membership base. So its cheap to run.

EP is a traditional WAFL clubhouse with a fair bit of work.

Then there is the old stand it self - big thing,

The surface being the main problem, its run down badly and drainage is poor.

Then there the outter which seems to deteriorate each year. Lights and grounds are expensive to keep up,

If you can get it cheap and afford to look after it then go for it, but I would say you could end up with a financial mill stone.

yep dead in the water , EFFC are now up to their 37th proposal to redevelop Moss St, without a single sod being turned.
