Classic example is in our own AFL backyard, Lyons cared little for the skills of football, just wanted defensive robots that stopped other teams scoring, under Longmure they are showing far better skills and a more open game plan, they are actually quite watchable this year. The eagles are also one of the better teams to watch their kicking is elite and they aren't afraid to bomb long into the forward line given the 3 exceptional marking forwards in Ryan, JK & Darling.

Michael Mort had the potential to be an out and out champion if his body had stood up, would have been a walk up start in the VFL at the time.

Buckenara
Kemp D
Heady
Macnish -- was a very good player, a little bit under-ratted -- his body was certainly smashed; picked ahead of mainwarning for the state of origin games in 86 remember

should also be added to the natural footballers list, lads

I would still go for Mort overall; he was the only Subi player I ever saw keep Wrenstead under 20 possessions; hence my remark about 85 if he had played in the midfield.

I'd have to add Steven Sells. One of my all time Subi favorites. Added an X factor.

jl: yep I am with you; once, I studied the mid 80s, both EF and Subi, in particular, in terms of whether each side could have won the flag with zone players alone.

I came to the conclusion that we could not have won anything without Sells.

I recall Sells made a good friend in Scott Rowland in the 86 GF...that was a great flag that year and one of my fondest memories in WAFL was Keeney sorting out Bushell in the first qtr.

BC -- he did, made up for his 2.4, the previous year.
seventy odd goals in a season
i just could not see how we would have replaced him, even though we had jg and Langdon from the zone

the others Willet, Carpenter, Crutchfield, Sparks were replaceable from within our zone

will this facebook thing work? Do you just click on the page at the appropriate time?

It was a dark moment for me when i had to concede the 86 premiership to EF

2 small forwards a back and a mid, glad to see Jacob miller keep his spot, hard tough player with a lovely long left foot, can break the lines with his kicking. Seems they are looking to add pace and ground level numbers against a big EP side, will need to bring the ball to ground at every opportunity as we wont outmark their monsters, plus rove to their rucks as they will dominate the taps, let Dela run them around as a tall mid, best in the comp at that.
