They reckon trade deals that were in place before the UK joined the EU were turned off and WA accounted for about half of Australia’s exports to Britain. So opening up trade agreements again will be great for our economy.
Also I recall reading that there was talk of having visaless travel arrangements between Australia and the UK though I can’t see Dutton agreeing to that in this day and age. That could be a free pass for terrorists.
I can't really see this, I agree we lost a lot of trade when the poms bailed on us and joined the EU, all we did was replace them with Asian trade, and that's worked out a lot better, lets be honest the poms don't really have the market for the big ticket stuff we flogg like Iron Ore, LNG and Coal, in the 1970s it was all agricultural trade with the UK, Wool Beef and Lamb, thats all gone elsewhere now.
Tbh after they dumped us for the EU after helping them in two world wars and staying loyal as much as we could, I certainly wouldn't be doing them any favours.
By all means sell a bit extra to the poms probably wine and maybe some meat, but I cant see it getting anything close to the 8 Billion we flog to China from WA.
As for open VISA and east access from the UK to Australia, no way, the UK has changed far too much for that, poor immigration policy has ended up making it a terror hotbed, so heavy scruitiny should be maintained.
