After 3 being killed at a California food festival last week, 20 in El Paso Texas yesterday it's now being reported up to 10 have been murdered in Dayton Ohio. Surely it's time to do something about automatic and semi automatic weapons in the US. Even the NRA must tap the mat before the place turns to total anarchy. No more "thoughts and prayers" from politicians..ffs do something.

Their endless support of the “right to bear arms” is going to get a lot more innocent people killed.
Unfortunately no one, including Trump wants to take on the NRA.
Dumb Yanks can’t see past their noses.

The only senior US Political person wanting to take this on is Bernie Sanders. But Bernie looks like 2016 .Where he will fall just short of the Democratic nomination.

...And that is the problem, nothing will be done...
Everyone will stand around saying prayers, comforting each other, whilst saying how terrible the loss of life is and probably with more police patrols for a short while after.
I think this latest report being the 23 rd US mass shooting thus far in twenty19?
Sadly it's far too late for any meaningful type of gun control or ownership. The public anger would soon dissipate, different sides of politics would disagree, big business would be against any intervention and no-one dares look at the nra.
Don't expect any positive changes soon. Sadly these mass killings are just a part of normal life over there

Yep...agree WAG.. The lunatic in Texas had an AK47...why the hell would anyone want to privately own an AK47 and more to the point, how are they able to sell military assault weapons to private citizens? I was just reading there are a bit under 400 millions weapons privately owned in the US which represents 120 guns per 100 people which accounts for 45% of all privately owned guns world wide. Second is Yemen which has just over 50 guns per 100 people. Unfortunately I think you're right WAG...it's too late to do anything meaningful as the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

The right to bear arms means that you can wave them freely. NOT shot innocent people including children.. It's a sick country when NO ONE want to stop this..One reason why I took USA off my bucket list.
Why not let the NRA have a duck season on their members (monthly if popular)

Yes to late to do anything related to gun control as too many already out there, a buy back wont work as non of these redneck multiple gun owners will ever give up their weapons, only option is for the Government to take control of all ammunition distribution, guns are just fancy paper weights without ammo. Make some strict rules on how to obtain ammo and make it strictly illegal to make it without a permit and to get a permit to make or buy requires a really onerous psychological test and a very high permit fee ............................. but it will never happen, it's more acceptable to let their own citizens slaughter each other than to do something about it.

Unfortunately there's a high price to pay for virtually unlimited access to firearms and the pollies in the US are prepared to pay it all in the name of a nebulous, archaic second amendment.

The First Seven Months of 2019 (real-time data, August 1st):

-8,574 gun deaths
-17,013 gun injuries
-377 kids (age 0-11) shot
-1,765 teens (age 12-17) shot
-1,016 armed home invasions
-875 defensive gun use incidents
-918 unintentional shootings
-248 mass shootings

www.keranews.org/post/gov-abbott-embarra...eads-texas-gun-sales

A disturbing article if ever there was one. Just highlights the problem more.
Just days after the crime, all the excuses under the sun have emerged yet again.
Everything has just been repeated.
And yet no-one has gone any near the question that should be asked.
