In your own words Bazza, pretty Pisspoor.

20 or so K's further West, people came from all over Sydney(albeit for a spot if theatre going),to see the Matildas play Brazil in front of a Full House at Penrith.I wonder if the Penrith Members were allowed to slip into their Bar,for a Free look and a few Jars?B)

Don't know what the Capacity of Penrith Stadium is,but that is still a Slap in the Face to the AFL if you ask me.And the sort of thing that can sway Mums(wearing the family pants)into steering their Sons and Daughters towards the World Game, especially in Western Sydney.

Also a disappointing attendance at the MCG for the Geeling v Sydney Final .

Only 55 000 there.Would the AFL care to rake the blame for the poor attendances after blowing their Trumpet about the attendances last week? Not bloody likely!

Yes mate that was a tremendous turn out by the Matildas. I enjoyed watching the game, wow ABC actually broadcast some sport,,yep the world game is grown in NSW - great to see, immigration will see it grow as the 200,000 Asians are pumped into Sydney year in year out!

55,000 not a great crowd but about normal for the norm for Swans finals, think over the years they get 40- 60K, got aboyt 10,000 or so old and new SOUTH Melb fans in Vic.

Was it really that bad for 2 non Melbourne teams. One had a 1 hour drive up the hwy and the other had a 1hr flight from Sydney. Would have looked better down at a packed Skilled stadium. Geelong should have had the right to host the game finishing higher than Sydney, but we all know the AFL has to have something happening at the "G each weekend of the finals.

Friday AFL 769,000 NRL 656,000
Saturday AFL 608,000 NRL 564,000

Quite amazing that despite what can only be described as a very ordinary fixture on a national basis, GWS v WCE on Saturday , it still drew more viewers across Australia than NRL.

Sorry don't have all city break downs , but despite having two of the biggest cities Sydney and Brisbane NRL wise against minnows like GWS and WCE they couldn't beat AFL nationally is a pretty sad indictment on their product.

Lowest attended final since 1916. Specifically what were the ratings in Sydney and Brisbane?

Did you read that post? I don't have them and it why does it matter, it won nationwide, something NRL has consistently failed to do, DESPITE your theory that it commands two big cities.

yes the attendance was crap, which has been widely ackonoweldged, WTF is your point?

Bear in mind Giants have sfa fans, and the WCE like the dockers attract poor crowds over East, had it been v a few other clubs the attendance would of been better.

Whats your explanation for such a poor fixture attracting far more viewers that the NSWRL?

Bazza, Bazza, Bazza two of the the three biggest states could not care less about the AFL. The GWS vs WCE wa up against an NRL final and the Matildas and was soundly beaten by the Matlidas and was about a third the attendance of the NRL final. I find it intriguing that you have a national figure but can't provide astate by state breakdown.

It is also highly amusing that you observe that the GWS have so few fans; my understanding is that their entire membership base is about 6,000 more than attended the game on the week end.

The AFL does not nor will it ever resonate in the two northern states other than as a boutique brand with very little interest for the vast majority of those living in the northern states.

The VPL is not travelling well in either state and is on death's store in the WAFL.

Why is it then that with TWO of the Three BIGGEST states that the NSWRL FAILS to win the ratings CONSISTENTLY???

Baz from what I have read the rattings drop can be explainned in part by the fact that people are watching the rugby league on foxtel rather than channel nine. The AFL will never convert the so called 'northern states' to aussie rules.
