Had to do it with that number of new cases, only way to knock it on the head.
As the health authorities keep saying, this will continue to happen until everyone who is able to have the jab, gets the jab. I'm off in a couple of days to get mine.
SS it is not just that, it is people coming back to Aus and hotel quarantine.

And McGoo finally shuts the border to Vic, probably a couple of days too late. Already one arrived yesterday from a known hotspot in self quarantine. The prick better not sneak out.

This rests squarely at the feet of "I don't hold a syringe mate" SloMo and the diabolical mess this fkwit and his shit government has made of vaccination.

Everyone will get their first dose by end of March - fail
Everyone would be vaccinated by end of October - fail
Letting people come and go as they fkn please to COVID hotspots - fail
Countering vaccine hesitancy - fail

Letting the AMA lead him by the nose so they can take a rake from the vaccination program instead of establishing mass vaccination centres and taking over a fkn year to get out-of-city quarantine facilities established. The guy is a dithering buffoon.

This is the same dickhead who ignited the stoush with China through his intemperate remarks.

Is there a fkn Opposition in this country?

Albo and leftie numpties are all over social mediaspreading the false narrative that this all lies with the feds, Ho hum what a load of BS.

There have been literally hundreds of thousands of people pass through hotel Q, successfully with no problem this recent problem has nothing to do with Hotel Q, the failure has been the poor reaction time once again by Victoria Tracers to locate and isolate the spreaders, no other state has had problems like Victoria, this will be their 4th lock down due to poor track and trace.

The Vax line is another furphy, even if the targets had been meet it would of made no difference at this stage, in anycase no country has been able to roll out the vax at the speeds lefty numpties are making up in their heads.

The main issue has been total complacency n the part of the public to get vaxcinated as most people who are eligible have no sense of urgency.

As the health experts have been saying over and over again, it's inevitable that there will be big outbreaks as we head into winter especially with the media scaring all and sundry into not having a jab. Britain and the USA, after totally miss-handling the virus are now showing that mass vaccinations do the job.

While the media need to report these 1 in 100,000 clotting events, it also needs to balance that info with comparative side effects in generally accepted vaccinations and medications, eg the womens contraceptive pill has a clotting event rate 30-50 times higher than the AZ jab, but we never hear that, the flu vax has an effective rate of around 55% where as all the covid jabs are around 80-95%.

Yes the feds have been painfully slow to get the vax out there but they should now be using the Vicco experience to emphasise the vital role of vaccination.

People hate lockdowns, they cost the economy, they cost jobs and the mental health issues are enormous, so all those who choose not to get the jab have no right to complain if the state gets shutdown again the next time there's a breakout, because there will be plenty of next times if over 30% of the population resist having the jab and preventing herd immunity.

The false narrative that the vaccine roll out has been a shambles is just that - false, I got mine no probs at all and found the entire thing very well run., the main issue I am finding is most people are just not interested in getting it, the media are pumping the blood clot BS , and now plenty are holding back them and anti vaxer nuts are the real issue, on top of that we arent like the UK and USA we havent had 1000s die - so the urgency is just not there among public.

Is that you SloMo? You are fking joking right? You obviously don't know anyone with a disability or anyone in aged care still waiting to get vaccinated???

The vaccine roll out in Australia has been an unmitigated disaster. FACT. Stick to stuff you have some modicum of an idea about.

Maybe McGoo and SloMo could offer the Rockingham bogans and Hillsong faithful free tickets to Bali and a quarantine free guarantee. They’ll be lining up and rolling the sleeves up in a flash.

Yep both scomo and the fish ad chip shop owner have both contributed to the fiasco that is the Covid management at a federal level. Ineptitude, misinformation (from both sides) and just a fundamental lack of ability to manage an efficient strategy has left it to the states to go their own with varying degrees of success and misadventure.

Gladdie, the Csarina, Marshall, Gutwien, Sneakers and the others have all done their best within their own governments and ability. They leave the federal process for dead.

The vaccine rollout was flawed with a totally unrealistic target, the actual lack of enough doses and target groups being different for each state..

The fact is that without Sneakers and his peers we would be much worse off and yes some of you don't like how we in WA have had to go through it but if you realistically look at the situation now with returned people bringing in the infections, Hotel quarantine in most states failing for one reason or another and the rollout being politicised at a federal level then where should your finger be pointed!

My guess is you have no idea, instead falling in with the chicken little panic station crew. I'm neither in those catergories much lower priority and have been vaccinated no problem at all, if its such a massive un mitagated disaster how did that happen? What about you have you been done?

The Acting Victorian Premier was very quick to blame this outbreak on a hotel quarantine breach in SA but didn’t want to talk about how the virus was transmitted from the Wollert man to the seed case for the Whittlesea cluster. It took a question to Professor Sutton to confirm that they still do not know how Case #5 was infected, only that they are genomically-linked. In other words, at the present time, Case #5, the seed case for the Whittlesea cluster, is a “mystery” case where the source of the infection is unknown.

It is useful to summarise the facts of the current outbreak.
(1) The returnee served 14 days quarantine in SA before arriving in Victoria and returning to his home in Wollert on 4 May. He developed symptoms on 8 May, was tested on 10 May and returned a positive result. He immediately isolated at home with his family, all of whom later tested negative. Four priority exposure sites were listed, including the wrongly-named Woolworths supermarket. Two train services on the Craigieburn Line were also listed as exposure sites plus some unnamed, presumably private sites.
(2) Case #5 developed symptoms on 17 May and was declared positive after testing on 24 May. He was inferred to be infectious from 15 May.

Merlino was keen to emphasise this morning that cases were getting infected within a day of exposure to a positive case. Hence there is a potential gap of at least 4 days between when the Wollert man commenced isolation and when Case #5 was exposed to an infected person. This clearly suggests there is an unidentified person who was infected by the Wollert man when he was still circulating in the community and who then had contact with Case #5. It is feasible there could be more than one missing person in the chain of transmission. Professor Sutton said this chain of transmission was still being investigated but there are clearly questions about why contact tracers were unable to identify the missing link that might have curtailed this outbreak.
