The polls must be saying that lockdowns are getting less and less popular. That's the only reason McGoo would resist shutting down 2 million people.
When is the next WA state election due?

Except here in good old WA it seems. Here’s a few theories why that has been the case and why we “seem to be lucky”.

The security guard that contacted Covid-19.Unrelated too last week's outbreak.Lives in a house with 7 friends in Nollomara. The two housemates that have also caught Covid-19.Are Uber Eats delivery drivers. We might have an interesting week ahead of us.

The polls must be saying that lockdowns are getting less and less popular. That's the only reason McGoo would resist shutting down 2 million people.

All the economic and political advice will be telling him this yoo yoo turning the State on and off is not sustainable, then there's the increasing specter of the Government having to foot the bill of business losses.

Everyones for controlling Covid but how about we confirm we actually have a problem first and a confirmed break out before going code red with one single case.

Spot on LaH. Masks being worn by an infected person may (repeat, may) prevent some expiration of droplets but are next to near useless in preventing the transmission to someone not infected wearing a mask.

Anyone who has worked in infectious disease control knows this. There's only one type of mask that should be worn by anyone in proximity to an infected person and that's an N95 and guess what, NONE of the security guards at these disease factories masquerading as quarantine hotels has been issued with these masks.

It is just an incredible layer after layer of ineptitude, confused messaging and stunning bureaucratic incompetence.

Mask wearing as out lined in WA at the moment is farcical.

The use of masks outdoors is utterly pointless. Fauci has confirmed this, they provide no benfit at all as the risk of infection in open air is so low its not an issue.

As Dazzler says even in doors, the poor quality masks worn provide suspect protection, I remember the Sars outbreak and it was known then that only the highest quality masks provided protection.

From the reading I have done the most risk is in a confined space by elevated levels of exhale and poor circulation, the simple act of opening a window lessens the risk considerably. So the most dangerous places are where increased stressed exhaling pushes droplets into non circulated air, the worst place for example would be an enclosed indoor gym with people doing heavy weights and cardio in a confined floor space. Even with wearing a basic mask as done now would do next to nothing to prevent spread. It's about time the science is applied more targeted, in other words if we have to lockdown again shut down the most high risk venues, like gyms rather than low risk. I note there has not been one case of an infection spread from Coles even though they have operated all through this.
