How are they going to play at the WACA given the current size of the ground?

Apparently the WACA is reconfiguring the oval as part of their redevelopment to attract WAFL games.
What is the time frame for that?   Unless a WAFL club decides to move to the WACA, what WAFL games will be played there?

Have all of those ABC news programs you watch 42 not mentioned anything about the WACA Ground redevelopment that is just about to start including lengthening the ground back to football proportions by extending both the Eastern & Western ends reducing the grass banks currently at both ends?!
What is the timeframe for the WACA development?

Yep the oval will go back to full size once work is done, just wondering if the timing will match up.

I would of thought playing at Freo Oval would be easier, then again wonder what we will do while work is on at Freo, I reckon North Fremantle Oval would be OK.

Hopefully a club like Perth or East Perth move to the WACA Ground permanently once a fair deal can be struck with the W.A.C.A.
I was lucky enough to play footy on there in the 90s and the surface was the best in WA (WAFL footy) by the length of the Ascot straight and the footy played there in the years 1987-2000 was some of the best I have seen since the advent of the 2 afl teams here, fast free flowing and high scoring due no doubt to the quality of the surface.
BH, mmm you obviously missed the games where they did not water the centre pitch area or when the fertilised it the morning of a game or was concussed due the hardness of the game - all of which was down to the WACA and their grounds man who resented the WAFL being there!

I was a trainer for all three grades in that era and the injuries and infections we had to manage and treat were a disgrace.

If anyone goes there you really make sure that you are treated properly, we had no bar facilities, the food was exhorbitant and usually only one kiosk open and if you play a night game the charges just go through the non existent roof, it was a financial mistake (one which EP are really good at making).
We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

I presume that he has written that in The West Australian.  Does he explain what impact that would have to the players who might have to work either on a Thursday or a Friday?

Direct quote from the article:

The success of Thursday night football was evident five years ago when 51,000 viewers tuned into Channel 7 to watch Subiaco and South Fremantle go head to head.

The game won the biggest home-and-away ratings in the near decade that Channel 7 have broadcast the WAFL and won considerable praise from the combatants.

“I am all for Thursday night football,” Subiaco coach Jarrad Schofield said. “And the boys enjoy it because they get a couple of days break at the weekend.”

Rival coach Todd Curley was equally supportive and said there was little inconvenience in the midweek fixture.“We train midweek so there wasn’t much difference in that sense,” he said.
