It seems that clubs treat us with disdain at this time of the year. We don't seem to be able to get other clubs to take us seriously when it comes to trades.
Other clubs are able to get deals done. They are willing to talk to clubs to get things to happen. They seem unwilling to talk to Fremantle to get deals done. Why, are our negotiators not the right people?
Over the years we have picked up dud after dud from trade time. Yep Freo will take Joe Blow. Let's make a deal. Over the years we have had bad trades, remember Daniel Hargraves!!! Great trade. They just kept coming and even last year we were dudded with Sylvia.
Over the years we have had maybe two trades that were of value. Modra was good for a couple of years for us. But he was on the football scrap heap after Blight gave him the heave ho.
Tarrant was good for us, for a while. We taught him how to play as a backman then what does he do!! He decides to go home.
I dread trade time because we always seem inadequate when we have to talk the talk.

You have to give a good player or be shonky like Collingwood.

Thats the guts of it, Freo have been very ordinary over the journey at this gig, could be a collection of reasons, bad negotiators, no connections, not a popular place to go, reputation, WCE have been pretty good, The Swans and Hawks seem experts at it. How many years have they been trying to snare a big name foward to replace pav? It all falls flat and ends in duds, this season seems the same, they snagged a troubled reject no body else wanted, maybe it might be OK, but past indicators are not good.

I was out at the Cott during the week and saw Rosich there full of squirt making a goose of himself, I would of thought at such a crucial time he would of been working the phones hard at it, but nope.

Anchorman what you have to remember is you are trying to sign a contracted player,
If hes so homesick why on earth did he sign a contract extension in the middle of last year??

I reckon you may have to give up a good player as in a Mundy to get this deal done unless of course GWS buckle.
With all the players that leave GWS they probably feel nows the time to take a stance,on a contracted player.

Any bad trades you have had well the buck stops with your footy dept.

6pr said this morning they have officialy given up on the Mccarthy deal, cant get GWS to move, so must not have had the goods.

Bad deals - as you say start and end with the club and footy department, which was the point I was making about the CEO, perhaps they are not as dedicated/serious or proffesional as they should be.

Steve Rosich is the CEO, has very little if anything to do with trade negotiations, that is handled by Chris Bond and Brad Lloyd. The deal for McCarthy was very much a long shot as he is in a 2 year deal, he approached Freo because he wanted to return home. GWS have every right to block a trade, but Freo had to explore the opportunity. As far as I know no offer was ever tabled. I don't see this as Steve Rosich not doing his job by having drinks in a pub and some wanker says he made a goose of himself. If that was the case I'm sure it would have been saturated over all Perth media for a month.

McCarthy wants to come home, has told GWS he doesn't want to be there. Do you honestly want a player to be at your club with that attitude? The kid lives by himself, has nothing outside footy in Sydney and is lost & home sick after being looked after for 2 years as they do when first arriving at the club. Freo have offered a more than adequate deal for him yet GWS say he is a contracted player, then trade other contracted players. The deal is as good as any and even better than the Geelong deal for Dangerfield...what has GWS been smoking? Lets not forget they have more than enough big forwards to choose from. Do they have a beef with Freo or am I missing something here?

I have a feeling the giants are playing hardball because the bloke just signed a contract extension. If he was so homesick why did he sign it.

Was it this year that Mc Carthy signed an extension to his contract Rock?.
Also Dangerfeild was a restricted free agent, so he had a bit more on his side.
Apparenetly Freo havent even officailly offered a deal??
