Good write up too in today's West about how the Hawks brought down Freo in the GF.. compared to that crap they wrote in saturdays paper saying that Freo should of won by the stats on the day!

There is some pretty good youth at the Dockers and with free trading an all....
Anyone heard of Brian Lake?
Dockers may have won if he wasn't there.

No doubt about it Terror, this will be his last roll of the dice, reckon he knows it as well, the whole comp is designed for the top teams to turn around pretty quickly, I think a bigger mix of clubs have won GFs in the last decade or so than ever, West Coast, Collingwood, St Kilda, Geelong, have all had their time in the sun and have faded, Hawthorn will be the next to drift away, it realy is just a matter of how badly you bottom out and recovery time, theres plenty on the boil ready to move on up, the Roos, Tigers and even Gold Coast..

S&S I wouldn't say that Geelong or Collingwood have dropped all that far and lets not forget that Hawthorn have basically been up since 2008.so not sure you analogy fits the mould you are trying to make.
The Eagles have had a horror run of injuries sine their last flag but have always been in the firing line to finish top eight. They have failed a couple of times true but still considered a force.
Also the Roos and Tigers have promised a lot for a lot of years and delivered nothing.Ninthmond have been February contenders for many many years.Maybe we will find out just how unlucky the Roos were last year or find out just how far short they really are.
GWS I will give you that one.I think they will kick some serious arse this year.
Last roll of the dice!!!!!!I think not.

You r kidding right??? GWS will do fuck all again...Gold Coast on the another hand...

GWS No chance, GC Richmond and Roos on the rise, Geelong, on the slide, Pies just hanging in - St Kilda well and truly gone, Hawks era coming to an end...

If the dockers don't do it this year, wheel turns pretty quick, Lyon misses his chance. lets not forget how long its taken them to put this team together, years of nothingness, the window doesnt stay open for long and blokes like Pavlich dont come along often!

Bookies rightly have them as red hot favs, all the pressures on them now - time to deliver!

But then again they had Eagles as red hots last year, will the worm turn again??

Not really Cats v Pies got 12500 at geelong. Granted it was a 07:10 kick off, then again it wasnt a DERBY. About what was expected IMHO.

But they were prictorians unk and everyone know they are better supporters than us :P Welcome back unk.

Agree regarding Geelong. I dont think they will make the 8 this year. Too many injuries already, no ruckmen fit and firing. Jelwood underdone. I dont see Hawthorn sliding too much any time soon though, they have some great young players coming through.
I honestly have no idea who will make the 8 this year. There is 12 or 13 teams in the AFL that could legitimately make the 8 this year. Should make for an interesting season, especially if it is close all the way to the end. You'd say Freo, Hawks, Swans are all certainties to make the 8 (or top 4). Richmond should be in there, Pies should be in there. About the only teams that you'd be willing to bet that wont be in there are: GWS, Saints, Brisbane, Melbourne and Bulldogs. I'm also tipping Port, Geelong, Crows and Carlton to miss the 8.

Yolo, I think you are missing one Hamish McIntosh, I believe he will be playing this week. In my opinion he is Geelongs best ruckman and he will be fit for round 1, unless im missing something?

JSelwood will be as good as ever, if not better. Of the top 8 from last year, I see Geelongs young guys making more of an impact than any other team.

McIntosh is injury prone, and hasnt played a single game of footy in a year and a half. Plus he is no certainty for round 1. Scott has already come out and said that their ruckmen will be managed... not sure how now they only have 1!
They are also now missing Christensen and Motlop, both have been deemed irreplaceable by Scott. Plus Burbury and Menzel.
Jelwood will have a very slow start to the season. His fitness will not be up to scratch. Not to mention they have plenty of players in the twilight of their career.

Geelong out of the eight...!
That'll be the day.
Dawson Simpson is pretty handy in the ruck. Tom Hawkins can help out. Blicavs.
The Cats youth certainly look pretty good, with a few coming up to fifty games this season or so.
Would never write these boys off.
As to Jelwood not being up to par... I don't know where that sentiment comes from, have I missed an article in the news. Joel has such single minded doggedness that only an injury could slow him down. Is he injured?

An injury free season for Tom Hawkins may determine the Cat's season.
