After the other presidents ousted him as spokesperson for the WAFL presidents and told him to shut up last year Dennis, Zempalis and Paul Murray have been Raponis voice in the media. Since then if he wants anything said he gets one of those three to say it.

Believe me Raponi can deny he wants the change all he wants, he is the one pushing it and sold the name off a long time ago. As I said last night Basil will approve it and guess whats on the back page of todays paper. I'd put money on them saving Dennis to stand up at an extraordinary general meeting to plead the case in an emotional speech for the name change.

As Swandog said if our finances were run properly $30000 wouldn't be so important to the club but we need it.

I know we don't like anything much that's AFL but a few teams have had "shop front" name changes. The Western Bulldogs as they play under are still the Footscray football club, The Kangaroos are still the North Melbourne football club. It's like calling Subiaco oval Domain stadium, everyone knows it is and always will be Subi oval. It's just for the purposes of marketing and to get a few dollars in the kitty, same for medibank stadium, will always be Leederville, Brownes stadium, will always be Lathlain. The same if WP start using a marketing name like Joondy Falcons, everyone still knows it is and will always be the WPFC.

I don't see it as one iota of selling your soul, but I do see it as a substantial marketing tool to all the businesses up Joondy way who would consider sponsoring a club that uses that marketing name.

Astro we don't see eye to eye on much but Raponi has sold WP with the Venues West stuff and JCC his loyalty is just like others who will remain nameless, their business deals and what is important to them,, at least one or two of the others do actually put in to the other clubs!

Who is in charge of sport at 7 Grassy? Was anything on 9 News about this? Would be funny if 7 knew to have cameras at the ground to interview the Mayor but no one told the clubs sponsor.

They have been talking about this on talkback radio the last hour.Most West Perth fans dont like it.This is going to be messy like the Channel 9 sponsorship last year.
The northern corridor has a high population of people from the UK.The Football Comission are worried about the growth of Soccer up there.They want the footy team to be known as Joondalup like the former North Perth Pennent grade Cricket team.
If East Perth stay with the Eagles they will go to Lathlain and West Perth can go back to Leederville with Subi.There zones might be at risk however if they do that.I though that WP emblem was already the Joondalup Falcons?

As much as I imagine the old guard would like to go back to Leederville, the new facilities will have WP nicely set up going forward, they wont give that up for aging facilities that EP have at Leederville. WP have set the course to take on the far northern corridor and if they stick the course they will reap significant benefits. They only need to follow what Centrals did over in SA who were in a similar situation of winning over a predominantly pommie population to the great game and have had astonishing success on and off the field. I have heard that WP have established a relationship with Centrals.

Here we go again with more threats by the council to take away their sponsorship. It seems that one person Is driving this from the council.

Changing the name is just rubbish and having a geographic name means nothing.

WP was domiciled in Leederville for 78 years so why weren't they called Leederville FC.

East Perth, Subi, Perth are all domiciled in unrelated geographic locations. Based on the mayor's logic, do they all change their names, too? Technically South Freo and Swans are too.

I am convinced that the name change will result in a greater loss of sponsorship that could impact on the future sustainability of the club.

I believe that if there are sponsors out there that won't support the club as WP then their money is not worth it.
