Screemer the ground is in a shocking state, but from what I understand the blame can be laid squarely at the feet of Wet Toast who, when the ground was redeveloped, demanded that the surface be made similar to a Victorian ground so a new thick layer of soil with a high clay content was laid under the new turf so the princesses could train once a week on a "Victorian" surface. Hence when the rains come mid season the ground dose not drain at all well and with two teams training and minimum three games a week played on it, it has zero chance of recovery.

Don't think the Toasters train their anymore so it would be nice if they paid to reinstate a decent well drained WA style surface ...... then again I may be dreamin'

i dont think its any coincidence that things happen at EP and SD games in particular when you look at the ferals around the respective team huddles during the breaks and morons like "the abuse crew" at bogandean.

I might move in the wrong circles BC but I can't remember the last time there was an incident at Bassendean other than the usual verbal stuff that goes on. Generally it seems to be pretty good natured although maybe a small minority take it too far but that wouldn't be any different from other clubs. Every club has its moron element.

I'm sure you're right about every team having its less than savory element mike but in my experience games at Leederville with the ferals and bogandean with you guys always seem a bit more intimidating than going to say East Freo or Lathlain. From the time you arrive in Midland and go to the ground to the time you leave, in general there seems to be an over-representation of idiots who want to make opposition supporters uncomfortable. In short..to paraphrase A B Patterson in the Man from Ironbark..."their eyes were dull, their heads were flat, they had no brains at all.."

Even in the current environment I have not been abused or treated badly at Basso, most times the folks are welcoming and always willing to share a jibe, good fun.

I think the issue is more about the general antipathy between ep (ERT) and wp. This has a tendancy to spill over the line at both grounds, wooden spoons and other bits of rubbish. Both sets of idiots are to blame and equally stupid, for the most part the supporters exchange jibes and move on.

I try very hard to avoid the issues by leaving the WP home ground as soon as the boys go up to the presentations, although just entering the ground last game created a situation when a WP person wanted to be unpleasant and that was a 7am, whilst at other grounds I usually hang around to see the ressies.
