With you Screemer, could never understand the significance of this award, did he play for both clubs? if not what significance is this for West Perth? and now that East Perth are dead and buried it has no significance to nobody..

I'm sure if your son died his memory may have significance. But I feel I should opt out of this thread because there is little chance of any mature compassionate debate is there.

What about the Peel Dockers ?

Hmmm let's begin
Larry bird - why worry about the standing of the Silcock match concidering the East Perth club exist no longer??
I would guess he would turn in his grave....just to be associtated with the shadow of his former club

After today's match it is obvious why we have no respect for what are now the eagles 2's as you deserve none!!

West Perth ran forward with a team with less than three good days rest , with five ressies within, on a disgrace of an oval against the team with 5 professional Eagle players, with the majority of its players rested for over 12 days and look what the 2's managed to serve up
I agree that Wellington is a major woose and has no standing as a man on that field - a dog in a fight and lesser of a player...beaten by reserve opponents
Yes there were still the errors and some untidy play, but all that we wanted was shown today and forget the score line - I'm sure that east perth will as it holds no comfort for them , win or no....

The boys ran their guts out to the very end....the very end ..

I saw no real celebration from the east perth players at the end as they trudged off the field and I humbly believe many of them realised what happened this day - no honourable win and as part professional team, against youngsters - the better one lost on the day as sometimes happens.

Much to be proud of today and I have to say that I was enlightened and engrossed listening to the core west perth supporters cheering and celebrating even minimal scores and throwing humour-as barbs at foolish opposition players faking for frees and then Gaining free kicks laid out by one umpire who as a supporter suggested today should dive three times into one of the swimming pool size puddles on the ground and come up only twice.... :silly:

Season over - for some of our payers sooner than later due to injury, but I for one enjoyed the game for all it revealed

Have some respect guys. To start tossing around the name of a tragically deceased former player to beat a club over the head with is pretty low IMO

Just read a a joke of a journo,s report on the game for the west.... This puppet joker called Dale miller obviously stays very close to the zipper of many an eagles board members pantaloons ... I'm sure after your scratching of a games review you'll receive your pieces of silver and be able to purchase more lead for your pencil??
Well Mr Miller.... As you haven't managed to fairly report there WAS another team on the ground today.... And a proud team at that.. Any fractured malice you may receive for this tripe will be well deserved

And mikeh
If the original EP poster had chosen not to diminish the tragically deceased name by a shallow proposal that WP we're not worthy of the contest for this cup then stones would not be thrown at his already fragile windows!!

Fair call Growler but I just think someone has to be better than that. Footy is only a game after all.

Growler et al, it was a game played in really poor conditions and I thought the WP players did their best and would with an once of luck been much closer.

I thought the game showed a couple of things and having watched the game this morning reinforced the notion that your players tried hard but were let down by some rushed decisions, Nelson got the ball but seemed to turn it over to easily, a comment made by the commentators as well. Rodda would have given you a bigger target and that perhaps was the biggest downer for u on the day.

As for the comments abt the Eagles players I can only say what I have said before, most with perhaps one or two exceptions have seemed to embrace the fact they play for ERT and do have a good level of camaraderie with the other players.

Next year will see a new set of games and the rivalry grow. As for the Silcock thing I think that it has outlived its memory and should be just an EP (ERT) thing, most folk have forgotten who he was or who he played for (EP and NM).

I agree Grump. The people at EP will always spare a thought for Jeremy and that's how it should be. To have someone on a public forum say the match has no significance actually makes my blood boil. But that's what you expect from WP and why another type of tribute makes sense.
