I watched quite a bit of the game on ABC. It was a strange performance by West Perth. They played some really good footy in bursts but they just couldn't sustain it and Subiaco were far too consistent for them. I can understand the Falcons supporters being frustrated with their efforts because they have shown at various stages of the season that they are still capable of mixing it with the best but for various reasons they just haven't done it for long enough. Their 2nd quarter was appalling and ultimately cost them a chance of getting closer. I was impressed with Subiaco and they will be pushing Swans and the Sharks all the way for 2nd spot.

West Perth still have the Foxtel Cup final to look forward to and they can still mathematically make the four as Moynahan said but its a very long shot.

West perth should of got beat by 10 goals today but Subi's bad kicking made the scoreboard look ok, Kerr, Nelson & black are the biggest front runners I've seen!! Get 25+ touches week in week out yet have no impact!! Not a hard ball get between them!!!

A shocking loss by WP in the League

Sad news was Ross Mcmillan's wife passed away on Thursday. He was at the game organising the kids as usual. Ross is a life member of the club and he can be seen at every game getting the Boys and girls ready for the half time game. He helps out at other clubs as well with their Youth.
Condolences to Ross on the passing of his wife Patricia. RIP

Ross could of stayed away to day but he was with his beloved club among his other family the WPFC which while it did not lessen the pain helped him in his Mourning and the loss of his beloved wife of 58 Years. Always here for you Ross.

Match comments

League

West Perth threatened a fight back and got within 12 points but Subiaco held on to win 13.19 (97) to 11.6 (72) on the day of the International Football Festival at HBF Arena.
Nick Rodda and Marc Crisp with two goals each for West Perth.
Rohan Kerr 31 touches, Shane Nelson 30, Aaron Black 29, Jay van Berlo 25, Matt Guadagnin 22

As much as the club would like to write this game up it was a shocking display of a totally Uncordinated and Undisciplined team. I will say no more

Reserves
Our Ressie even though they lost against the Top side never gave up and after being in what appeared to be a lose-able position fought back and showed they are worthy of a top 4 spot in the finals. The first half looked like a Rugby match with fierce tackling by both sides and not much open footy.
Dont know what he said to the team at half time (locked doors) but they came out and played a better brand of footy which was open and looked more like a Aussie rules side. They clawed their way back and were within winning when a mark was taken at a sharp angle when the siren blew for end of game. Missed the goal but I was proud of their effort and they showed they are capable of being the best side in the comp if they play 4 qtrs.

Colts

Great win by the Colts on Friday night and working up the ladder. The Colts are a very close competion with a few sides on equal points. Could be an interesting 6 weeks.

I would certainly be going to Pattersons if our colts and Ressies can get into the finals. The league is a big outside chance but I suspect they would have to win a few games on the trot and after today that will not happen.

Reserves Match review from the WP site

West Perth's reserves have lost a heart stopper to Subiaco today at HBF Arena with the Lions holding on to win 9.8 (62) to 9.5 (59).
West Perth stormed back into the game with two quick goals in the last two minutes before Joe Morrow had a shot after the siren, but narrowly missed.
Max Alexander kicked two goals for West Perth. James Embley 20 touches, Ben O'Regan 17, Aidan Lynch 15 and 11 tackles.

Totally agree with this comment, and this is/has been a week to week event regards no Hardblall gets, just hover and wait fior the easy balls.. I still say Stats can lie and high stats mean S.F.A if nothing is gained from them, its all smoke and mirrors

Let me ask again tho
The reports on 2 x Subi Players? and a mate said Manning was injured? .. no wonder no forward pressure!! What Happened ... Does anyone know?

Kody appeared to injure his arm and was favouring it. The tackle was routine and just unlucky from what I saw.
Kody was not playing well again today. 4 Disposals last week v Swans and 2 the Stats from today :(
Not sure what is happening but out of his nature to go soft
I suspect he is carrying an Injury.. Maybe a couple of weeks off will help him. Re the reportss dont know about them but will be on WAFL online on Monday so will check it out.
Good game by Subi and their DEFENCE was incredibles. I dont know how many times we were inside our 50 and they just kept repelling us.
Farking brilliant. They had a few standout players as well. I was impressed with no3 Blechynded and Hate to say it but Stockers out played Chris today but having said that Chris did some good things in general play. I loved his goal. It came at a good time.

As another said the Subi points would of kicked them out of the game but we didnt put anything on the scoreboard to counter it.

Blacky busted his guts today and he played a very effective game. He was one of our best and his Disposals were excellant. Not fair to criticize him as he was one of our best players.
He did have a big impact Falconstrike and I assure you in todays game in particular he won a lot of Hard ball.

I really think is time Matty Johnson went down to Ressies and Reserve player be given a chance.

Big Seva at full forward is not working. Last year we had Mellington & Manning in the forward line crunching the packs and blokes like Crisp picked up the crumbs and he was good for two goals a game. Hutchings has been a big lose, he was good for two or three goals a game, we miss his football smarts. WP are deficient in the ruck, we have been for a long time. Our skills are pathetic, we chip the ball around where Subiaco kicked the ball long because their runners are in correct position. Today we were predictable, the fullback kicks the ball into the same pocket 90% of the time. The group that i stand with all agreed, our skills are crap, it’s like we are tired and we lack confidence. How many times did we kick the ball out of bounds today, how many times did we get caught holding the ball and how many times did we fluff a kick. Bill did say after the game that he would pick the best side for the Foxtel cup. Go for broke Bill, motivate the boys and win the doe. The season is over so let’s mess around with the squad, drop a few blokes. Sorry John, Blacks performance today was gutless, just watched the replay of the game, he was weak as piss. So sorry to hear that Rosses wife passed away. Harley and I will be going to the funeral.
