Whatever you may think of Joondy's debt dodging antics, as a Club president or any other club official, it is just plain dumb to give the opposition any tiny bit of ammunition to fire them up. Save it till after you might win the game, otherwise you look for all intents and purposes like a complete clown.

So I'm not the only one who finds that whole "laddie" affectation irritating?

Bob Marley may have gone in for bowel surgery to remove the large number of hats he has consumed of late.
Also with laddie being a Scottish term I assume we wont see him back with all the steak dinners he will have to buy at seasons end, the kilt lads are a bit tight when it comes to opening up the wallet!

By all means criticise Hodyl and the SDFC Board for extending Pickering's contract prematurely.  That is perfectly reasonable but the brouhaha over his comments is tenuous to say the least.  Are we really going to think that his comments were the motivation for the WP win?

42 nothing Hodyl said was false and I think all true WAFL supporters would agree with his sentiments about WP's disgraceful handling of their financial predicament (bar of course the blind WP faithful).
The fact that the WAFC paid the WP players for that time period 2018/19 was unbelievable in itself along with virtually no sanctions placed on them eg losing Premiership points etc like every other sporting competition in the world does for those clubs who go into administration in their particular Leagues.
But I think he should probably keep those comments to himself until as such a time as we have a side actually capable of backing them up!

Whilst on the subject does anyone know whether WP have actually paid the money owed back to the WAFC as yet or is that just another bill they have walked away from???

I can answer your last question BH, from the last AGM the club has paid back 50K of a 250K loan, I think it will be 50K a year until it is finished, the club has negotiated a lot better deal with Venues West so that it pays rent much closer to that of other clubs, the club has full control of the venue now so that it can make money from bar takings and food etc, something that was not available to them like other WAFL clubs.
The biggest creditor being Venues West has finally worked out that WAFL clubs don't have a high income stream and have come to the table.

The club is now run by West Perth people and not blow ins from other WAFL clubs that couldn't give a shit!

The mind boggles Falcon why it took this long for WP to get it sorted out. I can’t work out this Venues West thing. It’s basically a government concoction to manage tax payer funded venues from what I can gather that SHOULD HAVE West Australian interests at heart and understand that Australian Rules football is in our DNA so screwing WAFL clubs for every penny they can get is a bloody disgrace.

The head of Venues West is probably some blow in from NSW that has NFI.

The way I understand it DD is that VW wanted to run the Arena Joondalup the same way it runs Optus stadium with the same type of rent and about 14 security guards every game that WP recieved the bill every week for stuff that was totally unnecessary for a WAFL game.
Other WAFL clubs deal with their local council, WP have to deal with state government monster that are very hard to deal with.

Why it has taken so long? not sure but it wasn't from a lack of trying and i suppose the melt down of 2018 made them have a closer look at the situation and they then made the changes.
