Earls reappointment makes sense but also good to see it's just a 1 year extension, This club needs success and it has to be the standard that is demanded. And the club would also be aware if they don't provide the recruits the club needs to take the next step then he is wasting his time.

Perhaps that's where the shrewd move of getting Wiley to the club comes into play - not only is he quite canny at getting recruits he also has the knack of getting the best out of them.

Hope you're right Oool. In fact I've noticed a lot more more familiar faces around Lathlain this year and at away games. Brian Cook, Steve Lally, Kadee Lang and Ryan Smith I've seen just in the last couple of weeks.

Also, whom was the last coach to win his fist five games of the season and not make the finals? I think it was Haydn Bunton in 1964, but Ric will confirm it; naturally he lost his job at the end of the season.

He has coached for 1.5 seasons longer than Damien M did and has won the same number of games. Next year will be Spalding's sixth season at the PFC which is how long the great Ken Armstrong coached the club.

I wouldn't have a clue who the coach was, but I know it was Swan Districts in 1997.
