As Swans have not played the club formerly known as East Perth this year I was interested in hearing some comments. It certainly wasn't an attempt to usurp the topic, but a passing inquiry.

Hopefully, this explains the rationale behind my post.

It's a fair question but you clearly were asking EP supporters what they think. I've wondered the same thing, Brian Dawson is a premiership coach. I have two theories one is its taking time to get used to a new coach nut I also question whether winning is a burning priority or whether it has become more important about what roles the Eagles listed players are given and perhaps the game plan is evolving around how the Eagles go about it. After all that is the whole idea of the alignment isn't it?

They also have Cale Morton playing for them which can't help.

Pickering actually said to midfield group at 3/4 time - "Cale Morton is going in harder than you blokes, and that is f*cking embarrassing"

He was filthy with midfield group for their 3rd quarter, was virtually on the field waiting for them as the quarter finished. Strongly admonished them for the lairising "hollywood" shit, critical of their setups to a left handed ruckman then spent time working with them on correct positioning, running patterns etc.

It worked a treat and they absolutely smashed East Perf in clearances in the last.

Also agree with whoever stated earlier Ali Smith should be in state team.

Didn't they respond?

Ali Smith bursting out of the centre hitting Bevan lace up was my favorite part of the game, that with Stack weaving through traffic and slotting through a goal on his left foot.

First time i have heard any feedback about the coaches. Whenever I have listened to Pickering I like the way he goes about it and this is precisely why I think he should be appointed at the end of the year. Sorry to bring it up but if the senior coaches contract is extended do you think Adam Pickering is going to still be available as an assistant coach? I think he, Trevor Williams and Broadbridge are a big part of the turn around on the field. Collectively they bring a wealth of experience, something that has been lacking at this club for a long long time.

I don't think there is any doubt that the coaching team has been significantly strengthened with the inclusion of Williams, Broadbridge and Pickering. You just have to compare it to last years set up, see the style of footy the team is playing so far this season (look at disposals per goal comparison from last year to this year so far) and importantly the way they train to know there's some serious footy brains in the box now.

Pickering may well have higher coaching aspirations but its hard to see many vacancies becoming available in 2014...at this stage at least.

Hey Dazzler are you talking Internal or External vacancies??

If external i can see 3 coaches positions in danger and out of the 3 i reckon 2 would have to go close to a flag to keep there post and the other would have to play finals at a minimum,Harding at Swans,Monaghan at West Perth and Hasselby at South.

Internally i reckon also McMahon will have to play finals to keep his job safe.

That's the sign of a good side with a bit of belief and to absolutely dominate the last qtr 7.6 to 1.2 is very impressive I have to say and EP had a good side out on the park. The 11 day to 4 day break difference obviously played a part in that but you still have to get the job done.

That is the first convincing win and the next 3 weeks are all there for the taking even though they are away from home. Claremont are hard hit by injuries ATM and we beat them only 2 years ago while they were a much stronger outfit. We go alright there for some reason, and Subi and WP are very beatable. It has to be said, we have had a dream opening draw in the first 5 rounds but to be 4 and 1 has obviously surprised many but now the test is how do we go away from home against some of the better sides?

With Busher closer to a comeback that gives options down back. Either play Busher down back which i believe he played a fair bit of footy at CHB in his colts days or play him forward and swing Tunbridge down there.

Sounds like the club is in a healthy position injury wise, how is Sean Holland coming along in the ressies and another tall option in Tyson Rowling?

I wonder if the Eagles will debut Simon Tunbridge this year to prepare a young player to fill Darren Glass's shoes? Is Tunbridge still on the rookie list?

Agree 30plus, next year with McInness and Tunbridge joining EP along with a couple of other forwards like Josh Hill it's going to make things tight at EP for spots. Also what about that forward that left EP, Prior? Proven goal kicker and maybe he left due to the alignment?

Speaking to a EP supporter at the game he commented that Prior went back to Melbourne due to the alignment.

And that supporter would not know his from his, Prior went to the club and advised them that as he had finished his apprenticeship and that his GF wanted to go home, that is what he would be doing! Once again fiction sounds better or meets the needs of the misinformed!

Yeah I reckon Haselby would be safe for another year. Monaghan has been talked about going for the last few years but they always play finals WP so not sure what more he has to do. Harding could possibly be under threat if they don't make the finals.

No doubt about it, Perth have to play finals for McMahon to be safe.
