Just a question what areas of concern from last season have they addressed with decent recruiting this off season??

I would have like to have seen the money that it would have cost us in wages on Mzungu and for that matter Clem Smith spent on more recruiting(decent players).

Can any confirm Clem is out and if so for how long?

Definitely out for the season. I was at the club today and was informed by what i would think was a reliable source that he - feels like he needs a year off - Considering coming back off AFL i can see it is understandable - but wont do prospects of getting redrafted any good

Given the whoo har about announcing recruiting earlier in the off season it is disappointing that once again the Club stops working when they think the work is done.
Now that the works falls to shit.
Illustrates the lack of talent in the football department.
Obviously there was no plan to recruit to our needs.
Thinking that recruiting our AFL players back to the club is actually recruiting.
This club needs leadership.
It needs a SAVY President with money and contacts.
We need a savy football Director with connections and knows how to be successful.
We need a savy football manager with connections and who knows what a footballer looks like.
Tyson Beattie was a doomed failure from the start.
All of these things are sadly beyond us.
Alas no-one in sight.

With respect recruiting young players who have played a handful of games and can't get a game at their current club is not savy recruiting.
It is living in hope.

Out of fairness & respect to the young fella and also the PFC I guess , it's probably not in his best interests to put himself under AFL pressures of any kind.

It's been a hard couple of years for the young bloke - maybe it's best for a year of refocus & resettling

Remember these boys are taken away at 17 or so - it's way too young for some of them and damage is done

We recruit Clem and Tendai offering them good contracts, which obviously reduces our ability to chase other players that are available. All available players get snapped up by other clubs, then Clem and Tendai, for what ever reason become unavailable, leaving us no one left to chase.

Tendai is understandable.

But

I'm not sure what the issue is with Clem but if its a simple matter of him changing his mind - he has really F%%%ed us over.

I saw the name Reid Polak on Subiaco's preseason list for their game against Swans. Has Reid left the Demons to go and play for the Lions?
