Our immediate future rests in the the hands of the football manager and CEO with a lot of ex Perth players potentially being desisted at the end of this season or next. As you say worm burner Clem Smith may be delisted. Others in that frame are likely to be; Mzungu, Tunbridge, McInnes, Colledge. I think Freo will persevere with Mayne for another year.

Be nice if we could get a year or two out of Johnson too if his body holds up post AFL.
Mzungu and McInnes would be handy additions. Tunbridge has struggled with injuries big time unfortunately.

Yes they all automatically become Perth players when there AFL careers are finished but will they want to finish it with us??

They have all been here before....in struggling Perth teams, will they want to come back to...a struggling Perth team with no hint of finals on the horizon?

You can bet other Wafl clubs will be circling, with the money and the promise to play finals.

30+,

You won't get all of them but you will be doing well to get 2 or 3 if all delisted. You blokes have improved, make no mistake from what I saw on Saturday, you just lack a key forward (White) and another signing next year will put you in good stead. Your backs hold up ok but you have nil forward pressure which puts your (very good midfield) on defensive mode for 70% of the game which makes it very draining for them. I heard a number of Perth players whinging amongst each other which the above creates unfortunately.

Not sure about McInnes, I think they may persist with him given his pedigree.
Also not sure they would be ready to let Colledge go either.
Would love to have Mzungu and Tunbridge back though.

Lets hope Leedy although i think it may take a little more than that.
Another Ruckman, tall key backman, quality outside mid and a tall mature aged forward is what we should be looking at.

demons2013,
Yes my thoughts exacly.
I dont really know what role Dennis plays in the team.
For mine Walley lacks consistancy as a small forward, does a bit of flashy stuff but for mine thats where it ends.
Garstone looks imo to be the only player in the front 6 thats looks anything like a forward, hes still developing but there is at least hope with him.

I agree 30plus about Dennis and others do too that I talk to at the games but the same old argument comes up, who in the ressies takes his place? At least Walley gives us something we are not blessed with, pace!

We are going to be stretched down back in the next few weeks depending how long Latch is out for. That's all our key backs out with zucconi walking out just to play his 100th, Johnston out for the season and now Latch.

They probably need to bring Mills back in who showed some promise in some earlier games. He will probably need to run with Notte this week. Notte will probably turn him inside out but might be a good learning experience for him.

My impressions are that the stats are telling me that we are competing better than most think. We win possesions both contested and uncontested, we win cleareances, we win inside 50s and we win hithouts and we are having a red hot go every week.

Alas that is all to no avail because we have no forward structure and we make it so easy for the opposition to spread and run and score cheap easy goals on the rebound.
IMHO, fix that and we could be much further up the line than where we currently sit.

With White basically a dead loss for this season we need to get a tall target up forward to support Garstone, we need a small forward who can do a lot more than just run even time for the 100m and kick off the side off his right foot, and we desperately need another tall back in the absence of Latch, Johnston and Zucconi.
The clock is ticking.... June 30 is just around the corner.

Oh, and some backup for Angus Graham. He can't be expected to run the whole day on the ball week in and week out. He is doing a mighty job but he needs support.
