Once a player is drafted they are no longer a WAFL club player. The club receives the draft money and that is the end of the penny section.
You don't think that the AFL would ever agree to any ongoing "royalties" as good an idea as it sounds.

Works both ways though grassy, at Claremont we've had plenty of players drafted who never make their debut and end up playing back at Claremont anyway. There's an easy thirty grand there.
There did used to be the system where the wafl club recieved a payment when the player made his afl debut, and then at 25, 50, and a 100 games or something. I think all clubs prefer the current lump sum system.

West ADELAIDE and Williamstown for starters.

Claremont Colts.TAC Premiers!

I reckon Trops is in the gun, they need mature aged players now not kids they have enough of them.

I don't think players with no AFL experience will be targeted. But Jones definitely fits into the category of players with recent AFL experience Gillon McLauchlan indicated would be considered suitable to be recruited as top up players. But hopefully Clint Jones is focused on helping the club he's just signed a contract with however can't blame him if Essendon offer him an extra 100k to play for a season.

I would think Essendon will target recently desisted players that might give them a second chance. 32 plus year old players wouldn't fit into that category you would think.

His missus is pregnant which might make the attraction of a return to the AFL less or maybe more appealing who knows???

With the loss of Bellchambers, Hurley, Hooker, Pears, and Hocking, added to the fact that Carlisle went to St Kilda and Fletcher has retired they need Key position players.........

I reckon they will chase a few "Midfield types" but those players haven't done an AFL pre season so they wont keep up. KPP's are important because right now Essendon has 1 ruckman, and will rely on two players drafted this year (Brown and I cant remember the other kids name)to play CHB and FB........
