Grassy, you are a bit too cryptic for an old fella like me.
I don't think that we need another small forward IMO...another tall KPP forward would be handy to compliment Spencer White.
I do not know anything about Stephen Mills but at 196cm he could slot into a key position or a back-up ruckman which we also need. Eyres and Power (injury cloud) are the only backup that we have. Perhaps Mills can add some needed height down back?
What have we got so far?.....
Midfield ...looming as our strong point
Jones, Tropiano, White, McKenna, Cary, Wolfenden, Irons

Forwards ...White, Collard Stack, M Morton...another tall KPP needed.

Backs Latch, Johnston, Bell, Jacobs, Sinclair...need more height

Rucks Graham, Eyres, Power... need mor back-up

Utilities J Moreton, Mills, Leggett, Gianatti, Polak, Doncon, M Jones, Chapman Jones, Payne, Chester, C Walley

That is a base squad of 30. I have include the Mortons as they are still on our list. As it stands ATM that could be our best 30 on which to build the final squad IMHO of course.
There a few Colts players who could be pushing for inclusion as the new season approaches including Corey Byrne John Levien, Kayle Phillips to name a few.

I think it's important we keep the Mortons they are best 22 , no. Point recruiting players and then losing the caliber of player that those two are.

Mitch is capable of 30 to 40 goals playing out of a forward pocket not having to be the main target.

I agree PN. Mitch should have a breakout season not being the main target in front of goals..could create havoc for defenders. Yep, 40 goals worth of havoc
Jarrad is a versatile player who can player forward or back. A good running player.

Hopefully that's coming from the same sources that said Stack won't be at Lathlain next year over the last couple of years.

While the Moretons are still on our list they obviously have not informed the club that they do not intend to play on.
While on the list their points (were 21 but probably due to be reduced) still apply.
If they do not return then that will free up some points for further recruits.
I am certain that the FM has been managing the points and salary caps in the current recruiting phase to facilitate any eventuality.

Hope justice prevails and WADA find Essendon guilty, but on the flip side the Afl have announced they can have top up players if that's the case what does that mean for Perth , Jones was a top up player last year and performed well and no doubt Trops would be a chance as well.

Grassy wrote: There's no point in me asking you,if you read Bruce Francis' latest posts! :silly:

The last one wasn't directly about the AFL Executive and WADA,but it did make for very interesting reading, especially about 1 James Sutherland. If old Oz Footy's mate La Hincha is reading this post, that name should arouse his curiosity and possibly ire again.

Mate I don't want to derail this thread but Bruce is irrellavant with what's happening at CAS unless you think he's part of the process, as it stands they will be found guilty or not guilty after the 11th and if they are found guilty it could affect the Dee's through top up players.

Heaven forbid that will happen PN. But good luck to any player chosen.
What compensation would a WAFL club get for losing a player(s) ?
Top up players could come from any club in any State.
I have some doubts that any Essendon players will be suspended. Whatever happens I hope the whole matter will be put to rest for good.
