Its clear to me we cant find a decent coach.
Players are starting to leave,Bevan,Risol,Moody retiring(he's only just turned 29).
Trying to replace player loses and then recruit to strengthen is something we have failed to do so often in the past.
How do you attract any player of note to this football club when we are coachless and a few senior players are leaving for various reasons?
Not to mention our on field feats of 2014!
The board is to blame for this mess giving McMahon a contract extension based on no results,a decent new coach 12 months ago and we wouldnt be talking mergers and alignments.
They will be this clubs downfall.
Agree that it is hard to replace people of the calibre of Ross Young and Paul Bevan with a like-to-like replacement.
For me it is Paul Bevan's leadership and guidance that we will most miss.
If we are able to use the points made available by his departure and say recruit a key forward that will kick you 50 goals a year then this is the best we can hope for.
Players come and go that's a fact of the game and the greats are always hard to replace but the good thing is (well it is mostly at other clubs) that new and exciting players in their own right always seem to come into the team.
My main concern is that we need to recruit for a needs basis and not just to get a big name. As stated before a key forward, key back and 1-2 prime ball movers in the middle is what we desperately lack.
The other thing you hope turns out in your favour is that the payers that are already at the club step up and go to another level that in turn improves the teams performance on a weekly basis.
However too often in the past players have not gone to the next level and this is where we as a club has failed.
It is the improvement from within mixed with recruiting for a needs basis that will see us improve on 3 wins next year.
