After Townsend's article the Defend our Demons group Facebook pages is up and running again.
We need to ensure our new President knows he can't be a Patsy for alignment.
I disagree, we need to be sensible and realistic. We are going nowhere anytime soon so the sensible thing to do in the short term is align with the Eagles for the next 5 years and bank the cash and in the meantime start negotiations with a shire in the southern corridor about moving our base to a more central location where the new growth is.

We will at least be competitive and might even be strong like Peel. East Perth used the Eagles for similar reasons and their future looks a lot brighter than ours. They are the sleeping giant of the WAFL in my opinion.
Get on your bike.

PD, I agree, 10 players is about the most you could count on to build around. One of our many problems is that a number of our better players are getting on. Next year, Mayne, Fisher, McInnes, and Busher will be over 30. Sinclair will be 29. Given Gibba has been consigned to the reserves, I can't see him going on. The players we can build around across the next 3 seasons are Byrne, Clarke, Taylor, Davis, Stubbs, Nicholas and maybe DBW and Cary. But how many real quality players do we have under 23? Regan Clarke, Avery, hopefully Hunter if he can get his body right, McPartland, maybe John, Quartermaine, Grey and Jye Clark.  Depending on the draft, there may be a few good players coming through colts, but it will take them until 2024-5 to find their feet at league level.

I see Peter German and Sumich  have been linked to the East Perth job if it becomes vacant.
If this is the case do we throw the kitchen sink at German like North have done with Clarkson?
One thing with German is he won't accept mediocrity on any level and might be the thing this club needs.

To be honest LL, I'd love Germo back at Subi but think it will take more than a WAFL coaching gig to get him to move over to WA with his family.

Yep...I agree LL. He would be perfect at Perth as we witnessed the cultural change he brought about at Subi over the first year or so he was there. The board supported him by bringing in some very good players but he certainly laid the foundation for a sustained period of success for the club.

Sumich would be the ideal fit for Perth. He is passionate about the WAFL, has coached at WAFL level with some success, has an excellent record with the u/18s/u/19s over several years and been an assistant coach at AFL level.
I believe he has all the points on the board to be considered the best on offer at WAFL level.
But, he has no magic wand. He would need to be totally backed by club President and the Board and provided with the tools he would need to turn this club around. He has the CV. Give him the keys and see what he produces.

I think I remember Sumich and Barra having a bit of a Barney. I don't think they get on

Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Not sure a move to the Southern Corridor is going to fix our problems.
Not sure a alignment will happen or fix it either.
Might fix things for the Eagles.
What the Club needs is a complete clean from top to bottom.
We need new people with football smarts including new coaching staff.
Happy to help put the plan together because I'm not sure there are too many people at the Club that have any idea.

That's the other thing.
When we have had a good coach we haven't given them the tools to work with.
