That was a great win over a very well represented WCER side. I think we got as far as 4 goals down so well done to the boys for showing the fight. It wasn't pretty but sometimes the ugly wins are just as satisfying.

As some predicted WC brought in Waterman, SPS and Hough. Thankfully Connor West was injured otherwise he would have played too.

hell yes! ugly it was, but we wanted it more than those pretenders and it showed in the last quarter with the effort.

Hats of to big Fraze who won us the game, not just with the final mark but with his hard work all over the ground and strong marking (and a few goals didn’t hurt).Special mention to Nikya John for his crucial intercept marking at the other end of the ground. We got smashed in the middle, but the backline held strong and ultimately got the job done

Overall a good team effort. WCE held the lead for much of the game but just when we thought they would run all over us our boys responded and ended up with a well deserved win.
Nikya is a revelation so far this season. He has been around for several years and always showed some promise particularly with his kicking. Now that he has got his chance I look forward to him cementing a place in the side. His decision making has improved and his booming kick is a great asset.
I agree, Fraser lead the forward line with strong marking and several goals. Inspirational. He was ably assisted by Bush who also took some good marks and was always in the action up forward and steady on his occasional forays down back.
Good to get our season under way and laid the foundation for a good season ahead.

Well, well how about Subi being beaten by a South Fremantle side nowhere near a strong as their GF side.
Subi's doesn't look as strong either.
Watched C vs WP yesterday, not sure C will be as intimidating this year. Surprised they beat WP but then again not sure WP turned up.
Don't underrate that win by the DEES, I think we may surprise a few people this year.
Love our structure with 2 ruckmen.
They will be formidible as the season goes on.
AJ is a real pressence, 3 goals between them, 4 last week.
Frase & Bush were superb and no doubt Sinclair was best on ground, a great game.
Crucial game next week, we must beat EP.

Not sure what game they were watching but the WAFL clowns reckon we had 18 frees to 15.
What a joke.
Some of the frees were mind boggling.
WCER certainly get looked after.

did Ainsworth get reported? I thought Creasy did for his high hit but the West seems to think it’s the other way around 🤔

I think he got the wrong bloke.
I heard Greg Clark yell out get Byrne.
The our friend Mr Harry put Ainsworth down.
Not sure the Umps or The West know what they are doing.
Harry did come off with a torn jumper.
If Harry was not reported and Ainsworth was then someone is paying someone.
What a joke.

DF, well done to your boys for beating the Eagles, they seem to be a team that backs off when some real pressure gets put on them, they go into protection mode.
As for your comments about the Subi Souths game, your right Souths have lost a number of players from last years GF team, 8 I think, Subi were without 11 players from the GF and we had 23 missing from the senior list due to Covid and injury, plus 8 debutants. those missing are pretty good players like Kennedy, Marsh, Walter,s Mayo, both Hickmonts, Atkinson, Lockyer, Braut, Harris, Snadden and Rhode. But thats the current covid world we live, well done Souths.

Our backline were outstanding led by Sinclair and Taylor. Aussie Davis has to be dropped on that performance, his kicking and decision making nearly cost us the game. This isn’t something new he’s been doing this his whole career.

I’ve always been a Nyika John fan and he wasn’t impressive when he got a few league games at the end of last year but it shows the benefit of giving guys like him a taste of league footy at the end of last season.

He was outstanding in a tagging role last week against South on Schloithe and yesterday his intercept marking and pace and physicality and kicking were a feature. Keep it up young man.

I wasn’t too impressed with AJ against Subi or the first qtr last week but from then on I have liked what I’ve seen. When he plays with intent and energy he can have a big impact. We were beaten in the ruck  all day until the last qtr when DBW got more aggressive in the centre bounces and started to halve and win some contests.

Why did it take until the last qtr to put Regan Clarke in the guts? He was BOG last week against South’s with his centre clearance work. He was one of our most influential players in the last term with his centre clearance work.

Fraser McInness was huge yesterday and how good is it to have not one but two key marking forwards? Him and Busher came up big in the last qtr. Ainsworth I’m not so sure about. Surprised to see he got 25 possessions, maybe that’s what he’s going to be, an accumulator you don’t really notice. Looks slow and his kicking technique worries me. Seems to hold the ball under the belly of the ball and pops his kicks up with too much air. Not a penetrating kick.

We’ve got a lot of players to come into the side. Josh Smith, Giblett, Avery, Cary, Perkusich, McPartland, Stubbs and Bennell.
Get on your bike.
