It is becoming clear that making the  finals last year in a year if we are all honest we probably wouldnt have if it had been a full season was the worst thing for this club.
The presidents cocky video back in the pre season when he talked as if finals were a certainty and even mentioned premiership has shown that even though we had achieved absolutely nothing the club carried on like we were world beaters., yes of course injuries haven't helped but I think even with most of our list fit we still  would have struggled.
We need to start all over again and look at  West Perth, even with the financial shit their team goes out week in and week out and plays for the jumoer.
I am so over this club getting ahead of itself when we have achieved nothing for 44 years.

After seeing the team announced for this game I thought it looked the weakest team I’ve seen in a red and black jumper in decades.
Im really concerned that once again we are on the road to nowhere.
It’s getting much easier to find other stuff to do on a Saturday arvo.

To put it into perspective, I saw most of the reserves with a handful of colts players play a combined WA u19’s side and we have much more experience yet we’re completely outclassed.

It comes down to talent and our zones are bereft of talent. It has been the case for decades, yes some people like to produce stats from AFL players drafted and average AFL games played to put a of warm fuzzy light on it but we don’t play regular finals in any grade, especially colts and league and that is a true reflection of our lack of raw talent available in our zones.

The difference in skill level in that game was like night and day.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.

I know your colts are struggling, but aren't your ressies sitting in 3rd with a game in hand on 4th and 5th?

The standard or gap stepping up from ressies to league is huge Imo.
Our ressies to me have some ok players but not many are bright long term league prospects.
The majority are just Reserves players and nothing more imo so add to that how poor our colts are and the future doesn’t look bright.
You only need to look at our spine and our midfield that we put out on the park each week to see that we are just going to struggle, one to kick a competitive score and two to defend the opposition from kicking a winning score.

I have to agree. Our ressies players are at best good ressies players only with a mere handful who are handy to step up in the league when required. Very little pressure on the better players in our best 25.
Our strength should always be in the colts and, sadly, we have not been able to present the quality, in numbers, that other clubs do. What good colts players we have had come through in recent years have been drafted.
Indeed, the future for our club is very bleak.

If you look at the metro zone areas PFC suffers from the inner city "gentrification" and rising property prices.  This tends to attract residents who don't see their kids playing Aussie Rules as a way forward or desirable. They tend to have "higher" apsirations.  Sad but true.  Unless we can attract players with incentives outside the various WAFC caps as others have done (although never talked about)  It'll be a long haul!... and time's running out!  I live in ever diminishing hope.

Interesting theory VPB...does the same go for Claremont with all their private school boys living in the western suburbs?
