As mentioned a number of times, we struggle with pace. If you don't have pace, you need to compensate with skills. The number of basic errors, with no pressure, from senior players, was appalling. If Langlands is still injured, rest him. If he's serving up that rubbish fully fit, drop him. Hayward not even close to a league player. Clark, Gray, McPaertland are surely better. Masten was on Tim Gossage show not sounding confident at all about his future. Write him off now and use the 12 points for someone younger. As for Moss... easy to blame the coach, I know, but we are getting smashed in the first quarter repeatedly. Then Moss comes out and does his nut, and we serve up more crap in the second quarter. Then he says "Just try to win a quarter" and we improve a bit. What is our game plan? Coming out of defence, two short chips in the pocket, followed by long down the line to a contest. Cary has been our best forward - what was he doing in the midfield? What was Masten doing getting cheap stats taking point kick ins?

Virtually no positives from today. Grey looked better. Sinclair made some bad errors by foot but intercepted well. Nicholas was poor in the backline but better on the wing. Fisher did ok on Schloithe, but they had more than enough mids to cover for that. Quill and Browne were ok. I can't see Rogers getting his spot back. As for changes, it simply doesn't matter any more, but assuming Masten is injured, I'd say McPartland for him and Gray in for Hayward unless Yeo is ready.

With our schedule it would seem already over.
I can't see us winning another game.
I know injuries were not kind to us but I think the cue has gone in the rack.
Again!!!!!
It seems mad Monday is more important.

Yes I agree.
Start looking for a replacement for Masten.
He hasn't had the impact I was hoping he would have.
We need pace and skill.
12 points need to spent wisely.
Langlands is another 10 points simply badly spent.

I wonder if we had a bidding war against other clubs for Langlands or whether their recruiting staff realised he was rubbish while we were dazzled by him being ex AFL?

My 6 goal prediction was close.
the loss was much worse than that though.

Langlands was ordinary not up to it
Regan Clarke terrible couldn’t keep his feet
My comments about Hayward were correct.
Zac Hill never gets mentioned but poor again

Overall pace poor and mathematically possible to make the finals but we are no chance.

I am not as hopeful as you VPB. West Perth next week and then Subi. We have 2 games v EP who seem to be improving, and our last 2 games are Claremont at home and Peel/Freo away where we rarely win on last game of the year.
I estimate that we need to win both our next 2 games or else it is the end. To make the 5 we need 10 preferably 11 wins and with only 8 games to go we cannot afford many more losses. Do the maths....  3 more losses and it will all be over.

No argument there Smokey - It's certainly a tall ask, but after 44 years I'm getting a bit desperate, so I cling to the soggiest of straws

Not just pace we need in the midfield.
Sooner or later the penny will drop that we can’t turn ordinary footballers into goal kickers
We must target a goal kicking KP forward.
Leorsch will not be the answer.
To be truthful our needs are to many and sadly we are destined to just plod along with no success.

I envy clubs like Swans and West Perth that seem to get it done when all odds are against them.

We’ve been talking a lot about players we’ve been missing but I think the one that doesn’t get mentioned much is Matty Taylor. I think we underestimate his importance. He covers so much ground, reads the play as well if not better than anyone at the club, great at intercept marks and getting to contests and provides great run and breaks lines.

The players available need to dig deep and find something.

Once again we didn't turn up in the first quarter. What is it with getting this team up to play? Diabolical connection between the midfield and forwards and just atrocious kicking for goal which killed any hope of getting back into the contest. Souths on the other hand had absolutely no problem dobbing them from anywhere on the field. Once again, our best players are behind the ball which is a big worry.

We better pray that it pisses down next Saturday and every Saturday for the rest of the season if we are to be any hope of finals.

Every week we see our players protecting space and opposition teams waltz the ball from our forward half to our back half and score or have shots on goal under no pressure.
Yet time and time again we continue this ploy, where’s plan b?

We go inside 50 enough times but fail to get the score on the board yes entry is crap but our mids don’t score our forwards fiddle and fumble.
Until we get targets in there that are capable and players streaming forward have the confidence in passing then score lines of 5 to 8 goals a game are going to be the norm.

Our midfield is one paced, slow.
Outside pace is an issue
Our backline battle hard but when the ball is coming in there at speed the flood gates finally open.
Lack of quality KP’s
Ruck issue and there is an issue.
Our colts a real issue.
The list goes on.
Did the shorten season of 2020 give us false hope coming into 2021?
I remember listening to Bob Shields after our final loss last season quoting “Perth is a sleeping giant”
Looks like it could be a long slumber.
