Perth will have a secured their Finals spot by 4.30pm next Saturday Mike, there will be no need to be concerned about the last round.

Subi made up a lot of ground yesterday BH to the stage that their percentage is almost identical to Perth, so assuming the games go as predicted next weekend the Demons would still be relying on West Perth to beat Subiaco in which case they wouldnt have to beat South. East Perth may also come in from left field if they can beat South next week but that would be unlikely

I am tipping Perth to win by 10+ goals next week on the constant dribble SD are dishing up week after week let alone year after year, so that should take care of the % differential!

Yes and come to think of it, the Sharks have been improving week by week. They have been unlucky not to snatch a win and its not out of the realms of possibility that they could upset Subiaco next week and finish their hopes.

We were blown off the park in all three games and I cannot see where, as a club, sustained improvement will come from.
O'Driscoll showed a bit today but like McDonald will probably be drafted. McPartland showed good form in the ressies on his senior debut. Other than that I do not see where we improve to the extent that we can consistently compete with with teams like Subi, WP and Souths.
We still have a huge gap to close. Our skill level is low, our footy smarts are almost non existent and we have no sensible run and spread. Having said that we do not know how to stop the run and spread of other teams. Swans may exploit us on that next week.
Probably sound a bit harsh but for me the reality is that when we are focused and fired up we worry and beat some clubs but not the smarter ones.

Yes Smokey in all three grades we rank poorly in defence and attack.
We have to rely on a low scoring scrap to compete with the best teams and our defence is not up to restricting a gun team to 10 goals.

IMO for the remainder of the season I’d play McIness and Delahunty in the ruck,McIness can provide that marking and grunt around the ground,id bring in maybe Roe as that mobile forward and I’d play Stubbs at FF.

There’s no doubt we are hurting with midfield injuries and it’s obvious we can’t cover them,so we have to be different in the way we go about it in other areas I wonder if we have it in us to do that.

We are actually the 4th highest in points For and kicked 2 more points than SF. The problem is our defensive pressure in the forward line especially from kick outs and in the midfield. Two blokes who are very shaky by foot are Davis and Taylor when they try short cute passes. They cost us a couple of goals every week.

The problem is we’ve got no depth, our best 25 are good but after that we fall off the cliff. Our reserves and colts are very ordinary apart from some standout 18/19 year olds such as McDonald, O’Driscoll, Clarke, McPartland and Quartermaine. Those last two are fringe under age players that couldn’t get a game at EF.

That highlights the lack of quality in depth in our zones. Players like Hansen, Edmonds, Henderson and even Eyres would struggle to get a game in the reserves at most other WAFL clubs. But they get a game at Perth and feel under no pressure to hold their spot because there is not a lot around any better.

Just watching the Subi game. Bottom line is that we were just beaten by a better team. Subi's good players are better than ours and they have fewer passengers. If we are going to play DBW, he has to play ruck. If he's not rucking, he should be resting on the bench. It is a waste of a position to put him in the forward line. He does very little around the ground, so unless you value hit outs (overrated stat for mine) he shouldn't play if he's not rucking. It may be that we played Dela because his cousin is so mobile. I would prefer to ruck Dela next week as Gault will run rings around DBW.

Also Zac Hill seems to me to be having a very disappointing season. He's not taking marks and seems to lack intensity. But overall, I didn't think it was that bad given how undermanned we were. We didn't get blown away, and that may be important with %.

I disagree entirely regarding ruck taps and DBW. In his first league game for the year last week against the states No 1 ruckman Goddard he took a mark about 40m out just in from the boundary and kicked a crucial goal from 45 m out. Eryes doesn't do that, McInness struggles from anything beyond 40 metres.

Eryes used to get killed against much taller opponents and too easily gets out bodied which should be his area of strength. This week he came up against the reigning Sandover Medalist. These are invaluable experiences and I encourage you to go back and have another look and pay particular attention to his ruckwork. He won the hitouts by 27 to Delahunty 23 and a lot of his hitouts were to advantage. If you are not going to back this kid in and encourage him we might as give the whole game away and join a bowling club.

Did he and our Dela get beaten around the ground by Lachlan Delahunty? They sure did like most of his opponents week in week out, that's why he won the Sandover Medal. I'll say it right now, if I see 2dads dropped for Eryes next week or any week I won't go and same if Hansen, Peletier or Hendo get picked again.

I think Zach was a little underdone having a late start still recovering from his shoulder injury from last year I think which may still be hindering him.

Yesterday I saw Coniglio on a wing at one stage. I am not sure if he played in the midfield all day or just had spells on the wing but he is one of our form players at the moment and in the absence of Masten, Yeo, Byrne, Colledge etc... I think we need to throw him in the midfield including centre clearances.

Another player I rate highly is Mitch Lague. He just can't get on the park, when he does he gets injured again and it's never a 1 or 2 week injury.

DD, I would much rather have DBW ahead of Eyres. He is still young and has some real upside. But I think he is a one position player. playing or resting him forward creates a forward line that is too tall and too slow and allows the ball to be run out too easily. We laid one tackle - yes, one - inside forward 50 yesterday. So if DBW is not in the ruck, he's on the bench. We need someone to provide some defensive pressure in forward 50.

I'd like to see us try Stubbs in a pocket, so forward line would be: HF: Rogers, Dela, Richardson. FF: McInnes, McDonald, Stubbs. It could be worth trying a tall player on a wing. Burke or Nicholas, who both run pretty well. We did that to good effect with Colledge. If that doesn't work out, they go into a back pocket and try Davis or Coniglio on a wing.

Teasing Subi right to the end.
And winning with a goal from 55 meteres, by Logan McDonald after the final siren.
Just to make them suck it up.
