Regan Clarke is still named, so hopefully the rumour that he was injured was wrong. From the extended bench I would have Marlin, Nicholas, Stubbs and Hendo. However, I think Hendo is named in the reserves, so he may be out of the equation. I think the key to winning this game is converting opportunities up forward. We have the highest points average in the WAFL, but with a weakened midfield, the problem may be getting it up there enough for the forwards to kick goals. I'd like to see McInnes hit the scoreboard more. He has been very good, but after kicking three v Peel, he has only kicked another 3 in 4 games.

Can anyone who follows the reserves tell me: 1. What has Hansen done to earn a recall? 2. What has Burke done to be so totally on the outer?

Hansen not named in ressies so he is probably in the 22.
I am uneasy about Sinclair on a wing. He knits the defense. Coniglio or Fisher can go into the centre if needed. We have a couple of other options available as we did last week.
Assuming Regan Clarke is fit then the i/c will be Stubbs, Nicholas, Marlin and Hansen.
This will be a season defining game imo.

When i clicked on the link from the club email yesterday it had Clarke listed as knee 2 - 3 weeks. They have since taken it down.

It's a tough one, Smokey. I much prefer Sinkers in defence, but as I said in an earlier post, with Masten out, perhaps he should play midfield. If not Sinclair, Fisher should go in the middle or on a wing. I just don't know where the club sees Hansen playing. I think we tried him at half back early on, hoping his foot skills would set up play. But if you only get 3 kicks, foot skills don't count for much. If we are going for a mercurial forward, at least Roe has proven he can kick a bag, Hansen hasn't. I really have no idea what he adds to the team. Hopefully Saturday will be his day to prove me wrong.

I agree on Hansen Ted. With BJ unavailable perhaps Roe is a better option. He can take a grab and can kick a goal. Is there a danger that we might get a bit top heavy up forward?
With all our midfield outs we are a bit short in the depth department. I think we are missing Brownie.
Will Payne get another run with role? If not I would prefer him up on a wing.

You would probably think Payne will go to Horsely.
Lucky us they play us and Horsely comes back as we lose Masten.
I have not got a fuzzy feeling about this game.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!

Yep, our destiny is in our own hands. We can only play the cards dealt to us.
The 22 that go out today will bring the same focus and spirit that they have shown so far this season. We can ask no more of them.
Good luck boys and remember, "you can do it"

Firstly, I hope there were no more injuries. In my opinion, the only guys in the reserves who might be selected are Dennis, Langdon, Roe and Burke. Maybe Cary if fit. For next week, I'd bring Rogers in for Marlin and probably leave it at that. However, a case could be made to drop Hansen, in which case I'd bring in Burke.

So we have games v SD and SF. Needless to say, we have to beat SD. It's hard to see us getting over SF with the injuries we have. S are almost certain to beat EF next week, and then if they beat WP, out we go. We may rue missing the chance against PT and EF to win by a few more goals. S are now just ahead on % and even EP are only 21 points down, so if they upset SF, we could even drop to 6th. It just shows that defence has been our weakness, given we are 2nd average points for and 7th against.

That said, it wasn't a terrible effort today. Just bad timing that S got good players back at the same time we had good players out. They are a different team with Horsley.

Brent Edmonds - 9 disposals no marks on the wing. Pretty regular stats this year for him. Might have said it before but reminds me of Florio. Not good enough for 70 or 80 games in
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!
