Hang on mate, this "purple circle" group and washed up coach won a flag 3 years ago and played in 2 GF's plus prelims in that time.

Horrible year in 2023 but that's due to many factors. Blooded heaps of youngsters in '23 but my main concern is that we haven't recruited 2-3 guns to lift us. Schlensog not coming back hurts and may tell a story. If Parker leaves and Ninyette plays WAFL again but at Perth will also highlight an issue.

Signing a coach for a year extension is strange, hedging our bets if you ask me. Departures overs 3 years are a killer but the youth coming through looks pretty good.

More pain to come I'd say but let's give it another 6 week hey?

Sit back and dwell on the past Dog and you soon get further behind the pack...The club just looks and feels very tired and boring. The washed up coach has a boring bullshit game plan... The circle will run the club into the ground tired and backward thinking.

Not dwelling mate . . . and I always look forward. Gotta go back to 2015 to see when we last missed finals, and most ladder positions were top 2 in that time. Think the game plan worked well in those years.

Anyway, last year was a bust in every area possible as we know. A huge factor was player loss in 2022 and injuries in 2023 to real key players for a fair chunk of time. We couldn't field reserves teams at times.

I agree with you that you have to stay progressive and ahead of the game. Are we doing that off field? I think so. The new plans for the ground development etc are progressive but our on field stuff, I'm not sure. Bringing back Schloithe to me sounds desperate as he will only be there for 1, max 2 years at the expense of a youngster that was blooded this year. Champion player in the WAFL and will help with leadership etc but it's certainly not long term.

All the other recruits thus far and in their early 20's which is promising for the future, (if they are any good) but I haven't seen us address any of the main holes from this year. Quality key power forward, quality bull ruckman, genuine centreman, winger with speed and a small goal kicker.

I'm more worried as to why we can't attract the quality, experienced recruit and have stalwarts of the club leave to play ammos. (Schloithe, Shaw, Maskos, Verrier, Stewart, Branchi, De'ollio, Ninyette, Schlensog, Hammersley) in the last 3 years.

From the club:-

South Fremantle Football Club is excited to announce the signing of 23-year-old Jason Carter.

He was selected in the 2018 Rookie Draft by the Fremantle Dockers and has played 52-games of WAFL footy for both Peel Thunder, and more recently, Claremont Football Club.

Carter is an important addition to our list with his notable speed, skills, and footy smarts, and is expected to play at both ends of the ground.

Another piece in place with coaching - our new Development coach Chris Mayne
Former Docker & Magpie Chris Mayne will join the Club as Skills Specialist & Development Coach working under Senior Coach Todd Curley in 2024.

The 248-game AFL veteran is a huge asset to the club with his experience, footy knowledge, and passion for player development.

Mayne is currently the Director of Football at Trinity College and has held various coaching roles during his playing days and into retirement.
“To bring someone of Chris’ experience and standing into our program is fantastic and will complement our current coaching structure” as explained by Head of Football, Charlie Burke.

“With a squad full of young talent, it’s important we place the resources around the group to develop and hone their fundamental skills, and we feel Chris is an ideal fit for this responsibility".

Mayne will formally commence with the Senior Men’s program early in the New Year.
