Priority needs to be competitive.

1 x Ruckman - Not sure if James / Broadbent are number 1 rucks in this comp, need a big body mobile (like a Higgins / Free)
1 x Genuine speedy small forward - Donaldson is great but he needs support and when he isn't playing he gets the number small defender tag all the time. (recruited Nield from Port Adelaide for this role but that didn't work at all)
1 x Key forward - Miller was it and was very good but again if he is injured or needed in the ruck (refer to the first item on the wish list as to why we need one) we didn't have a key forward to kick to. Strom was tried, was serviceable but can't be the key target. He can be used better in other areas for maximum impact but (refer to point one again). Big Blechendyn has promise for sure but needs to be the number 2 or 3 option not the focal point.
1 x Wingman - With pure speed, to stay on the outside and run. (recruited Lachlan Taylor but he has spent 2 years playing reserves footy.)
1 x Inside tall / strong mid - Have lost a few of these types over the past 4-5 years and haven't really replaced any. (Kelly, Pickett, Schloithe, Verriers, Suban even Steely Green did this role even though he was a smaller size).
1 x Genuine rover type - I'm watching Milan Murdoch who is my height and he is a genuine pest, has speed, has the shits on all the time and gets the ball. We need one of these. I know we are young in the midfield but I think 2 of the new young guys in Aaron Drage and Caleb Stephens will get drafted, were outstanding for us, so naturally they need to be replaced)
1 x Half back lock down - Similar to what Maskos did for us for years but again we never replaced him.
1 x Key defender - Missed Schlensog who left during the pre-season and were a bit thin all year. Pearson, Mcquilkin and Boullineau were very good but again we never had all 3 available at all. Puts pressure on the 2 who are fit to combat sides that have 3 tall forwards.
1 x A good run with injuries - Having players like Florenca, Ah Chee, Parker, Gallucci, Doney playing in the midfield and Pearson, James, Miller, Higgins up and running last year together would have helped heaps of course.

We shall see what the off season brings. It's a big wish list but if you don't ask you seldom get!!

all fair points

will have to wait on North Melbourne's delistings to see if Hamish Free comes back - same goes with Steely Green at Richmond
I believe Shannon Neale still has another year at Geelong but is one we have to keep tabs on

Our ridiculous penalty is served & done so getting Sog back is a priority

appears we may have lost Matthew Parker to Perth - and being fair , both Taylor & Nield have been spuds and need to be cleared away but I was very disappointed Rob Turnbull went back home - he had something

the big blokes we have are really quite raw & rough with disposal and that killed heaps of enterprise - the coaches have a job on their hands polishing these guys up

Ferreira , Graham , Stephens & Drage ( and possibly Colborne & Harbour ) will attract VFL interest so that horrible wait is coming again

of course there will be local players wanting to transfer and that will be another avenue

AhChee may be a retired player also.

Don't have any insight, but Parker was originally a Perth player, which I was not aware of.
With new regime at PFC not such a silly thought.
Would be a good pick up if it were to occur.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.

Agree... with all your  wish list Dogman. I think the other area of need is our off field..

Interesting to see we are now advertising for a Colts and Reserves Coach need to get those selections right. Although they are only going to be as good as the  overall quality of kids that you will be given to work with.
Would have liked a new coach but we have got Curley for the short term at least... Overall the Coaching department has been very stale for a number of years now and it has contributed to the demise of the Club. A new Coach would bring reinvigoration but will come at cost to the club because they extended his contract ? Not certain the CEO , President or Board have any idea sadly

I'm not inspired with the hope of any great change with Curley and his chummy mates on the board still in Power.

They won't be spending up big either I don't think, club had a bad year on the books, poor attendances and the actual clubhouse has even shut down Friday nights now after 60 odd years.

From the outside, SF haven't done too badly in recent times with 3 GFs in the last 5 years and a flag. 2023 wasn't great I agree, but do you think it's time for a change already?

We are in for a world of pain. Must be 15-17 players gone in 3 years, most of them premiership players!! Didn't know about Dragovich and Miller leaving is a massive blow on and off field. Schlensog wanting to play but not at SF is a sign of bad bad things.

thought I'd pop it in here mate

think Draggers only came back to help out with Brock Higgins

Jimmy got an offer he couldn't refuse at his age - you know the VFL2 is cashed up deliberately by VFL1 and that WAFL clubs have absolutely no chance up against them

We have to throw everything and the kitchen sink into our kids - very good bones but bloody raw & ragged
we may only be losing O'Hehir & Stephens but with the distinct chance no-one goes which would be great
We must get something from Perth in return for Sog too which is only fair

Losing Marty Atkins has been felt - he was good for the playing group

We didn't stand up to that cockhead WAFC wanker Roberts and that's now being felt , people aren't happy about it - it is now time for a breath of fresh air from within

that last bit is my thoughts I'm sorry if it offends

Jimmy wants to take a money offer and test himself see what happens - it's similar to what Meadows from West Perth did a couple of seasons ago with employment no doubt
Sog still wants an AFL gig as you know - he's been got at , but we'll get some good coin maybe a player in return
the recruiting department now have all eyes upon them , what we have left is bloody young and raw and too inexperienced to cope with a whole season they'll need help
but we do have to get time into them if we are to recover

actually the other one I forgot
I trust someone will get Broadbent match fit , last year the kid didn't get any pre-season in and that stuffed that before it even began
this one will be important for the future
