Not sure Trumps impeachment is anything to do with the killing of the Iranian. The impeachment case is so weak Pelosi won't send it to the Senate.Hoping for some new 23rd hour evidence.

gtr: correct public opinion is behind him on impeachment, just like like it was behind Clinton when they tried to imperach him, so he has no need to sort out the Persians for domestic reasons at all. The argument also falls down simply because war with Iran would not increase his popularity with the public according to the polls.

He attacked a big target of opportunity as it became available in the wake of the Persian attack on the US embassy in Baghdad.

As I said above, Clinton bombed the Serbs when he was impeached, and yet, I have not seen anyone on here having a shot at Billary for carrying out military operations to hide domestic problems. Have you all forgotten?

Surely the US have anti missile defence systems? Otherwise this doesn’t make sense. Why would the US basically allow themselves to be an easy target like sitting ducks?

DD I think Iran phoned the Iraqi Priminister. Told him they where firing rockets,when and where.The American bases would of been empty.

This impeachment fiasco will get him elected for another 4 years, his support is on the way up- that and that joke opposition, Biden is cooked - the Dems havent got a chance.

From what I read DD, they tracked the missles and knew about them and new they would fall short, they were never a real threat.

Perhaps Iranian history remembers back to 1953, when the CIA orchestrated a coup to oust the popularly elected, democratic government, and install the hated puppet dictator, the Shah. Oil was the name of the game then.

jack -- your correct about mossadek -- excuse my spelling -- but in truth, since 1945 the Americans have had most of their 'Empire by invitation', there are not many states or peoples which/whom would welcome in the Aytollahs of Iran.

In short, there are two imperialisms in Iraq: American and Persian, the Iraquis caught in between. The attack on New york was a bad day for Iran, the Americans ended up being on their left and right flanks, in Iraq and Afhghanistan.

Just remember though, even if the the Americans withdrew from the region, a massive war would result because the Sunnis will not allow Iran to expand under any circumstances.

I would put the kick off of bad relations at about the 1850's. The big orange fanny probably has been led to think the murder of Suleimani is pay back for 1979 - but surely that occurred when the US Navy confused an Iran Air operated Airbus A300 with a F-14 Tomcat, killing all on board.
