What is clear from all this is a clear line has been drawn in the sand. It is YOUR OWN responsibility to know what you put into your body and it is your responsibility to know what is legal and what is not.

But the big story now will turn to what action the players take against the Essendon FC and James Hird. This has the potential to ruin the Essendon FC. It would give me great pleasure to see golden balls ruined financially.

Grump wrote: The next question is what do Essendon do for players from here on in,

Do they rely on their reserves team and hope they can get through the season as the whipping boys and the consequences of that,

Do they get players from elsewhere and how does that work with the salary cap, presumably the existing players are on pay for the 12 months

Do they fold for the 12 months and the other teams all have a bye - The fallout from this would be enormous for the AFL and sponsorships

Do they clean the list out now and try to recruit undrafted players with a view to the next 5 years,

One thing is forsure and that is that every Monday morning Worsfold will have an answer to the previous weekends loss.

To draft replacements one would have to delist players. If they delist players then other clubs could draft them at the next draft. Since they have to keep paying the players it would be best to use the balance of players as the team. Just go out & get belted each week & save money.

I think the AFL has given them permission to go out a find 10 top up players outside the current list LS.

Why should a cheating mob like Essenscum be now allowed to go out now and cherry pick players from the WAFL, SANFL, VFL etc ruining all the plans those clubs have put in place for the upcoming season?
There should be a full drafting fee compensation of $35k per player to the affected club as this is just further complete and utter bullshit from that weak as water calamitous organisation known as the AFL!

The allowance of top up players and increased rookies without effecting the salary cap is the AFL protecting its brand again.

The AFL wants a competitive game and to have a side getting flogged each week effects TV ratings, crowd attendance, and membership numbers.

All of those, especially the TV ratings will effect the bottom line of the AFL. Lets face facts channel 7 and foxtel are not going to spend more money if they know that they will only have 8 decent games + Essendon game each week......

This move is the AFL in damage control

BH I have to take exception at your extremely understated figure. Most assuredly the compensation that should be payable for any WAFL (yes even Subiaco) or SANFL or Tassie club should be starting at least in the vicinity of $350,000 per player for each year that player plays for Essendon.
