My God what is going on in this country?
It seems one tragedy gets topped with another and another etc etc

Its extremists, its drugs, its depression, its anger. I feel we are losing control everywhere.

Yes, heard on the news this morning. Eight children, aged between 18 months and 15 years, have been found dead in a house in Cairns. A 34-year-old woman, believed to be their mother is in hospital with stab wounds. Understood she is helping police with inquiries.

The Australian taxpayers may have to foot the funeral bill for the Lindt cafѐ gunman, which left two hostages dead. If no one comes forward to claim Monis’s body, taxpayers – including the hostages he held at gunpoint – could be funding his burial arrangements.
If his body isn’t claimed by his family, he will be given a “destitute funeral” by the Department of Health.
I for one, will be most angry if my tax dollars are used for such a purpose.

I read somewhere that the Muslim community has asked that he buried/dumped at sea, they want nothing to do with him.

Usually under Muslim religion the burial needs to take place within 48 hours of the death to meet their requirements

The body of the Sydney siege gunman has been released for his next of kin to bury. The coroner has completed an autopsy.
A spokesy for the Department of Justice said a burial order was made this afternoon which meant the gunmans' next of kin could now organise a funeral.

It is not known if anyone plans to or has collected the remains.

"If no one comes forward to claim the body, a destitute burial will be organised through NSW Health," the department spokesy added.
And local health districts were responsible for processing and paying for destitute burials and cremations.
Apparently if the police determine that the state is ultimately responsible for their burial, the local health district will fund a funeral.
All of which means, Australian taxpayers will be funding the funeral.

Monis' partner will not be able to collect his body after she was taken into custody this afternoon.

If the public is paying for it then I say bury him in the traditional Aussie way with a sherrin in his hands. Not our fault he will haves his hands on the pigskin when he meets Allah, lets see how he likes that one hey???????

The sea of bouquets left in Martin Place as part of a tribute to the 2 Sydney siege hostages has been cleared by nearly 100 volunteers.
It's estimated 100,000 bouquets were in the area surrounding the Lindt Café.
All the cards, messages and notes will be collected and preserved.
Flowers removed from Martin Place today will eventually be mulched and deposited at a yet to be determined site. That will happen in consultation with the families of the 2 dead hostages.
Said the NSW premier, "At an appropriate time we'll also discuss with them the establishment of a permanent memorial."
Red Cross, SES volunteers and council workers were busy collecting the flowers, all notes, messages and cards from the Martin Place area.
Condolence books will be kept at parliament and the Opera House for anyone wishing to sign, until the end of January.

It says a great deal that the average man/woman on the street has had enough of this kind of stuff. Maybe the pollies and our gutless judges might do something about it. Though more chances of Peel winning triple premierships I spose.
