Exactly, with the WACA now being dropped off the test schedule, its official the WACA is becoming a white elephant.

The would be far better to unload it and put a drop in wicket at the new stadium. Which Im sure will come.

Perth would have to be the most hopelessly inneficient user of sporting venues compared to other Australian cities.

Adelaide has consolidated into the Oval

Bigger cities like Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane have less venues than us.

Bloody joke.

agreed bazza...we'll have world class facility at Burswood that's only being used from March to September with the exception of the odd one-off event...how inefficient is that?

WRONG

BC the new stadium will not be for just the occassional one off event. It will be used for many more concerts and other out door stuff than Subiaco was ever allowed. Why do you think the shifted it from Subiaco!!!They shifted it so it could be used for more than 12 times a year of a night.
If the new stadium was up and running now we would or could have had Man U and Liverpool play here. With the new stadium we will get the chance to see more of the bigger sporting teams come to Perth to play.
Subiaco was stifled because of the residence around the oval. This will not happen with the new stadium.
There is no reason at as to why they can't or wont put a drop in pitch into it if it is required. It is going to be a multi purpose stadium, not just for Australian rules.
If we had the new stadium right now there is no way we would have missed out on having a test match played here.
If people think that this stadium is only going to be used for football then think again ask questions about as to what it can and will be used for.
The oval itself may not be used all year round but take it from me it is not laying idle during the off months. There are conferences and such in the rooms around the oval.Companies use the facilities there for there business meeting and conferences. So do you think that Burswood will be a white elephant during the off football season!!!!Do some research before you say silly thing like that.

anchor...there's a big difference between having a few corporate events in the function rooms to filling up a 60,000 capacity stadium. other than add hoc events such as the Man U and Liverpool games you mentioned, what else is going to happen there which is not already taking place at Subi?...not a lot I'd suggest...then why not play cricket there?

Opposition attacks Tourism Minister over loss of WACA cricket test match

The State Opposition has attacked the Tourism Minister Liza Harvey for not doing more to secure a cricket test match for Perth during India's 2014/15 tour.

The Minister told Parliament Cricket Australia's decision to leave Perth out was disappointing and a 'kick in the guts' for WA cricket fans.

She admitted she had not had any personal discussions with anyone at Cricket Australia.

Labor's Tourism Spokesman Paul Papalia says Mrs Harvey should have worked harder.

"It's extraordinary, this cricket test would've had an audience of millions in the sub-continent and elsewhere around the world, potential to showcase the state, showcase Western Australia and promote the state as a tourism destination, apart from attracting people to come to the event itself and the minister showed very little interest and clearly made no effort at all to retain the event," he said.

Anchorman is spot on, build it and they will come

Today I listened I think to Dennis Lille crap on about the WACA, being an icon , saying wicket s can't go into the new stadium all piss weak excuses...it's just all backward thinking
The WACA has been a dead duck for years now, it sits there empty most of the year, now it's lost test matches ...

Adealiade has left us behind, The Adelaide Oval will be far better and more financially viable than anything we have here.

Why is it other states can get their sporting venues and orgs together but ours are so stubborn and backward thinking,
