And in another development to rock Australian cricket, Michael Clarke has resigned as a selector.

As part of a review of Australian cricket two years ago, the coach and captain were granted selection powers.
But Clarke has repeatedly come under pressure to step aside from the role.

I have just been reading the various quotes from the parties involved and I came across this little gem from Michael Clarke

Clarke said he was shocked upon hearing Arthur had been cut but said his thoughts then quickly moved to maintaining focus on the team's performance.

"This is a decision made by Cricket Australia, it had nothing to do with the players or nothing to do with me personally.

So there we have it. The sacking of the coach has nothing to do with the Captain or Players. Dave Warner can sleep soundly at night knowing that he had nothing to do with the coaches demise. I mean really what planet is Clarke from??

I think it is good to sack him. Obviously the performance in India was terrible, champions league also, if we kept it all the same then obviously the ashes was going to be a whitewash (could still be, no doubt). Everyone is complacent with Mickey, and they dont feel the need to push themselves and perform, as they will keep their spot on sub par performances

Chuck Boof in there, he will no doubt be a bit harder on the boys. Also, everyone will now think they are vulnerable to lose their spot and wont be just going through the motions (like they have been with Mickey that last year). I think it is a bit harsh on Mickey, as no doubt he is a great coach, but something had to be done, and I think by changing the coach to Boof, will sort out a bit of the problems.

Guess only time will tell.

made my day hearing that news.....thank fudge common sense has prevailed....Lehmann is a fantastic choice.......won't win us the Ashes this time but definitely in with a shout in OZ in the summer......

obviously you aint to happy with Arthur getting the flick MO.......you aint happy with Aust ashes squad and you aint happy with Davey Warner.......lot of aints MO....though I do understand what you mean by magic dust.....when SD magic dust went over east to Collingwood a few years back, life at Steele Blue aint be the same since.....
