JL should be all over this. Shabby work by Paine dropping 3 vital catches and then all the abuse. I watched and listened to the stump mic and thought it was very poor form. Frustration maybe but still poor form. They choked in that Stokes debacle and did it again in this last Test.
Smith should be pulled into line also. His antics and bat movements after each ball are unnecessary. Now Labuschagne is doing the same thing. I can't fault their batting. They are the mainstay of the batting line-up but they are compulsive attention seekers.
The Aussie team has suffered from an unsettled batting line-up. Warner is still not fit, Wade is not an opener, Head is talented but lacking confidence, Burns finally dropped after very bad performances. Now that Green has settled into #6 and Pucovsci looks as though he will settle in as an opener, there is no room for Wade.
Replacements ??? I do not know but surely there are better options available.

Unsurprisingly Langer has come out and defended Paine and Smith while acknowledging Paine had a poor last day. But in all their defence of Steve Smith they acknowledge his "quirkiness" which is reason enough on top of sandpaper gate for him never to be considered for the captaincy ever again.

Though I thought Paine batted really well on the 4th day when he joined Green at the crease. Green was probably still batting within himself until Paine came out and scored freely. Green seemed to then up the ante and I'm sure once he made his 50 off a shot that nearly got him out, Paine would have said ok well done, now open your shoulders a bit and show us what you can do.
Get on your bike.
It was Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve.
