Finals are here and MrM could not be anymore excited as it threatens to be a very exciting finals series for all. 5 very good teams and as they stated on the P.F.L podcast any one of those 5 team could win it all. MrM though, he thinks that probably only 3 can win, but as they say football is a funny game and things can happen on any given day. Off the field we have seen some very heated debates and I believe Fullback has been placed on a Gag order meaning he is unable to post without violating his court order.

As for the others, well each person offer something different and MrM does look forward to this each and every week. Heated debates about Reserves football and a club forfeiting games in another Grade, keeps MrM very entertained on his daily train commute.
Let us look as two fixtures this weekend, keep it short as MrM think he is on the express.

Elimination Final
Ocean Ridge v Bullcreek Leeming @Heathridge Park

The Onion Ridge boys have surprised many this season and have found themselves playing good football and earning a home final for their debut B Grade season. Who knows what the team will be like this weekend, but they do face another side who I am sure many would not have tipped to be in their top 5 at the start of the season. Bullcreek has a very good mixture of young and old and are a real threat in this final’s series. This will be a big old tough game and who knows we may see an upset, but I think that Onion Ridge will get it done just.
Ocean Ridge by 2 goals

Qualifying Final
West Coast v Bassendean @City Beach Oval

Another big game for these two sides here, with the winner advancing to play at such a prestigious oval next weekend. West Coast are the form side of the competition and will be out to show Bassendean why they are, however, a loss last weekend may have given momentum to Bassendean. The Bassos boys will be up and about after their win last weekend, but away form home it may be a different story for all. Will be a close hard fought game, and who knows, may even go to extra time. I think West Coast may just get it done, but wouldn’t be surprised with a Basso upset.
West Coast by 1 goal

Good luck all.

A couple of good games this week and the top 5 deserved to all be playing this week.

OR v BC - I think Bullcreek will turn up this week. Been a bit down of late compared to the beginning of the year. Have one of the best mids running around in the ex Carlton player. OR lack a bit of discipline at times and lucky not to get a couple of cards last week. So the pressure may get to them again here. BC by 3 goals.

WC v Basso - Must admit I was a little surprised Bassendean got up last week. This week I am thinking will be different at WC home ground. Should be a very good game and WC by a couple of goals.

Good luck to Mt Lawley Magoos and colts this week. Elimination for the magoos and double chance for the colts.

Both these games could go either way. Its a really good top 5.

I feel like the extra pressure of a B grade season has really been felt at Ridge through the second half of the year. But they have absolutely done so much better than i thought they would. Creek well they have also stumbled to the line a little but ive always rated their size and skill. Going to be a tough old game this one and i reckon it will get fiery. Might be worth the trip up there to have a look if theres anywhere left to stand under the patio. Ridge 2 points.

Cracker game West Coast and Basso will also be, again. Both will want it and will go after it. I cant split them really at this stage but i do think whoever does win will probably knock the old Roos off. West Coast by a point.

Thanks for the input again gents!

Went out to the Ridge game and wow they look slick against a bigger side.
they ran very hard all day. Their hall use is good and they seemed to always find a hit up
kick when they were under pressure at the contest
Hats off to them and their coach Brad who has done a really good job!
For Creek still a good result making the 5 with a new coach at the helm- always difficult.

West Coast v Basso a tight affair by the looks. Kicking accuracy could have cost them but luckily it didn’t- 20 scoring shots to 10 Basso’s way- don’t see that too often at City Beach oval.

Wanneroo no doubt would have been there doing their homework.

Next weeks games
West Coast v Ridge at City Beach

Wanneroo v Basso at Showgrounds

Always a bit of heat in finals and from reports I've received, yesterday was no different down at City Beach.

Believe an errant elbow (if you want to call it that) cleaned up a West coast player which resulted in him being concussed and done for the day. This may have resulted in an altercation in the crowd at 3qtr time with words being exchanged by the player concussed and few Bassendean people.

No card were given but will be interesting to see if anything is followed up in the aftermath. Would love some Goss if anyone has anything.

Basso potentially hitting there stride and the Ridge train rolls on. Some massive fixtures to be played next week!!

Missed the incident  on the field but I do believe the field umpire who was right at the contest said that there was no head high contact and that’s  why he didn’t even pay a free kick.
As for the “altercation” if that’s what you want to call it , The concussed player waiting over at bassos bench after the 3qtr time huddle to mouth off at players as they came  to the bench  is what instigated a few of the spectators to basically tell the bloke to bugger off  but not in exact words. There was definitely not an altercation .
It was a great game of football though

Went to our colts at WC ground and decided to stay and watch the Ressies and League. I saw the incident pretty clearly. Not sure why you didn't see it Bazz as it was right in front of the Basso bench and just to the right of the main spectator group where i was standing.
So to help you out Bazz here is what dozens of spectators and i actually saw happen.
Just before 1/2 time No18 of Basso hit the WC player late , either to the head or jaw with his elbow or forearm which knocked him out cold and contrary to your statement the umpire did pay a free kick for the cheap shot.
Your bench obviously saw it & understood the possible ramifications because during the ensuing push and shove and concerns over the WC players health, quickly got him off the ground and then proceed to strap No 18's elbow/forearm.
Why he was not immediately red carded is poor but my understanding is that the umpire's weren't sure of the players number so they waited till 1/2 time and discussed it further. Still unable to confirm the players number they did nothing and let the bloke play on with his elbow/arm strapped. What a joke!
This shit has got to stop so I hope WC take it further and the PFL investigate it as the bloke should not be able to play for the rest of the season at least !!

Wow BAAFLE you have a lot of information for this and seem to have an eye for detail. No doubt a NOI has been lodged if that is the case.

Can you comment on the incident involving WC player and 3qu time altercation if you were right there?
Or just here to throw the boots in on Basso?

Can you give us a run down of the game?

I haven’t seen you give a review or a tip of a game all year but would love to hear more from you about the standard of the game and who ridge/wanneroo should be worried about this week

Cant we all just get along

Freo i also headed up to Heathridge to have a squiz at that game and catch up with a mate for a beer. Were you squeezed in under the patio with the rest of the sardines ??

Game wise Ridge were just better and slicker than the Creek. Ran harder, spread better and just simply outworked them from what i saw. Whether theyve got enough there to go down to city beach and take the Coast down im not sure. But ive kinda been on their wagon all year and now after seeing them in the flesh for the first time i reckon they are maybe worth the punt.

FFTF i am follower of the page and normally don't comment but Bazz's comment changed my mind.
If you read my post early last season you will know i have no time for thuggery and will always endeavor to get it stamped out.
As you asked for my thoughts on the the game and the rest of the finals here goes.

It was an even contest till 1/2 time with WC having enough of it but not making the most there opportunities. The drizzly condition made it  a bit difficult to play attractive football but it was a hard and tight tussle.
Basso are a skillful & experienced side who do take there opportunities but don't appear to create a huge amount of chances? After 1/2 time and after loosing No10 to concussion they seemed to loose structure and bombed/ burnt the ball .Basso have some seriously good players especially Fletcher and the quickest player in the comp in Hinder. If you don't stop them not sure you can beat them?

As far as the other sides go i only saw Wanneroo 1st round at their ground and they were impressive with an even spread of players and there mids and back line was very good. They look to be a young side and as the season wore on they appeared to fall away a bit so i would think Basso might just have them covered?
I rekon Basso will only kick 8-10 goals and Wanneroo will create enough chances but they just need to take them.
I only saw Ridge last game at Hammer and they were a  bit disappointing but they are also seem young so season might be catching up with them and they may have had an off day?
They seem to rely on a good group of small mid/forwards especially No 10 and No 18 who plays a kick behind the ball. The ruckman No10 for WC was very good in both games against us so his loss is significant and  might give Ridge a chance but WC for me.
