As for the game, fair to say that it is in a "delicate position" at stumps on day 3. England are obviously well in front in the overall match and if they can get Smith early on Day 4 it could be all over very quickly. To have a chance of bowling England out in the 4th innings, the Aussies would need a lead of at least 230 I reckon, so another 200 runs today, most of which would have to be scored by Smith, Head and Wade.

I don't want to be a jinx, but Australia has successfully negotiated the first hour with Smith and Head bringing up their century partnership.
At 3-177, Australia leads by 87 (hoping the devils' number doesn't strike) runs but will need to extend this to 250-300 in my humble opinion.
Having spent a lot of time batting with a master like Smith in this match, this experience should do wonders for Head's long-term future in the baggy green.

398 run lead heading into the last day.....esp after being 8/122 on day 1....who would of thought.....obviously Eng bowling attack is a rotation down....and a pretty good rotation down as well....but you can only play what is in front of you I guess....day 4 could be a mentally decisive day for Aust batting fortunes in this series.....be nice if the bowlers can roll the Poms on day 5....kudos to Wade for taking his great batting form pre Ashes into this game and making a fantastic ton....Head for partnering Smith in two stabilising partnerships in this test.....just needs to go deeper...but batting at 5 seems his for the long term taking....even better with Pattinson making runs at 8 too.....everyone knows he can bat.....hopefully he has a day out tomorrow with the cherry

Wade showed why his Shield form got him on tour. Great effort. Smith is the "new" DON

It is going to be near on impossible to take 10 wickets tonight on that pitch which is offering very little for the quickies as it is placid and slow.
Our only hope will be if Gary The Goat can finally shake his 4th Innings/5th Day demons as the one thing the wicket is doing is turning.
Was an enjoyable nights viewing though thank god for Steve Smith whilst Wade cashed in which was good to see.

Smith must have the best hand/eye coordination on the planet as with all his moving parts, it's got me stuffed how he even hits the ball in the middle let alone makes back to back tons. He's different that's for sure but brilliant at the same time.

You could see how exasperated the English were with Smith and they were down to Plan Z when he finally nicked one. He is a freak. The inclement weather will probably ensure this ends as a draw but given the Aussies record at this ground and how they started this match, they would have taken a draw on Day 1.

Wouldn’t this be one of the greatest ever victories in Ashes history if they can pull it off? What a class act Steve Smith is after being taunted relentlessly by the poms with “We saw you cry on the telly”. It might be the poms crying in their beer tomorrow. Lol

There was a ruthlessness about their batting on day 4 which reminded me of the way that Steve Waugh used to grind the English into the dust. I'm sure they are benefiting from having him in the coaching team.
