Thank fark Stoinis and Maxwell haven't been included in the squad of 25 for the Aust v Aust A ashes shoot out....does JL mix the sides up or play his potential Ashes starting 11 v rest?

Warner Harris Uzzie Smith Head Patterson Paine Cummins Starc Hazlewood Lyon
v
Bancroft Burns Labuschagne Wade Pucovski Carey Marsh Pattinson Siddle Richardson Holland with Bird Tremain and Neser getting a chance to bowl during the match......

I know it won't happen but geez I would like to see Carey play instead of Paine, some how squeeze Pattinson in to a 4 man fast bowling line up and batting prodigy Pucovski play.....

Warner Uzzie Smith Wade/Head Pucovski Carey Pattinson Cummins Starc Lyon Hazlewood/Richardson......

I reckon they might mix it up a bit and put the established players in different teams to make it a more willing contest, so Warner v Smith,Starc v Cummins.Right/left opening combinations. Carey and Wade battling for a middle order spot. Should be a good game.

Another century to Wade to add to the mountain of runs he has scored, he is making it very hard for selectors to ignore him. The only issue for him may be the competition for the 2nd keeper/batsman role from Carey. On figures in first class cricket Wade has it all over Carey but the selectors may go with Careys future potential and I'm not sure if there is room in the squad for both of them.

There would be room for both if a certain someone got the flick mikeh....not going to happen....so the technically sound Handscomb will get the nod no doubt......why does Wade need to be picked as a keeper.....his bat has done all the talking the last 12 months not his gloves.....and it is not as if he has been making those runs batting 7.....all his runs have been top order deliverance....more so than most specialist batsmen vying for an Ashes berth.....Carey is definitely the future wicketkeeper across all formats and needs to blooded sooner rather than later in the longer format. Going to be interesting how JL plays it.....his loyalty to Maxwell and Stoinis in the end came back to bite him...he has no choice but to back the skipper in....but for how long...esp if Langer wants to be the first Aust coach to oversee Aust first win in Eng since 2001....tough calls need to be made.....

Will be interesting to see what impact Englands world cup victory has on the ashes series. There are at least 7 of the victorious team who will be fronting up. It could go either way I suppose, they could carry the euphoria into the series and sweep all before them or they might be still celebrating and find it hard to switch on to red ball cricket. Anderson is apparently in a race to prove his fitness for the first test and he would be a big loss for England at Edgbaston. Some big selection decisions ahead also for England in terms of whether Jason Roy can adapt his game to the longer form, and also the make up of the England bowling attack with Woakes, Anderson, Broad, Wood and Archer all vying for selection .

Gee I would love to unleash a 4 man pace barrage at the Poms in this series which would need Carey to be the keeper and bat at 6.

Warner
Harris, Burns or Bancroft
Khawaja
Smith
Patterson or Head
Carey
Cummins w/k
Pattinson
Starc
Hazlewood
Lyon

BH remember what you said after last ashes series in England? 'I might never see an Australian victory in England unless the batting improves; it was a very astute remark 'bease'.

Broad and Anderson will be desperate to start the series
England can only get the little 'urn' back if Buttler and Stokes succeed the in the middle order.

BH you wouldn't have Berendorf in as one of the quicks? he seems perfectly suited to English conditions with his ability to swing the pill. 2 out and out quicks in Starc and Cummins and 2 fast medium swing bowlers in Hazlewood and Berendorf plus Lyon.

My understanding is that Berendorff is not available for red ball cricket due to his injury prone body. He is not in WA's Shield squad.
