Geez Langer has a bit of a conundrum here....NCN great knock of 92 but bowling is expensive and wicketless so far....Stoinis can't make a run but bowling steady....surely NCN is in as the 3rd quick must be under the pump from Behrendorf for the next game, because can't see NCN scoring another score like that again....whilst Stoinis is due a score but definitely under achieving with the willow....and Maxwell wastes another opportunity to show the selectors he has the ability to bat long if required. Is Uzzie under the pump now after getting worked over by the short ball?....perhaps Marsh is due a go....interesting to see if Langer swings a few changes next game...maybe a horses for courses selection criteria.....Starc and Cummins when needed rose to the challenge and did what your lead quicks need to do.....

The West Indies really chucked this game away when it was well and truly in their grasp. Just over 100 at 6 runs an over with 4 wickets down should be a doddle but some of those middle order guys seem to think that running ones and twos is uncool so its either bash or block.
Having said that the Windies were dudded by the most atrocious umpiring I have seen in an international match for a long time. Gayle was fired 3 times and none of them were out. The ball that he actually got out to should have been a free hit due to a massive no ball the delivery prior.

The Aussies have some glaring weaknesses which I think will be exposed by better teams. Smith has resumed his position of carrying the Australian batting and the bowling in the first two games ( Cummins excepted) has been all over the shop. I'm still shaking my head that Starc got 5 - 46 with a mixture of what were mainly half trackers and wide balls. As I said the WIndies played like it was a 20/20 and paid the price.

Not much praise handed out to Smith & Carey.. Thought they were gone when 4/38.
Smith out to brilliant catch. Coulter-Nile was huge...
Windies just imploded.

It was a controversial win in the end.The ball before Chris Gayle was dismissed was a no ball. The front foot was more than 300mm over the bowling line.So the dismissal ball was a free hit.Can only be run out no Lbw or caught or bowled or stumped.
Great batting by Steve Smith and out to a brilliant catch. What an innings by our NCN who turned the match on its head.

gtr: Gayle should have been out before that when the bails never came off the stumps. Erasmus was the tv umpire and i bring him up because he is a 'not out man' on the lb decisions. There absolutely no way he would have given the Jamaican 'out' as the New Zealander did. Hopefully he will be one of the umpires in the important games ahead.

Looks like the plan will be to see off the initial spells of Starc and Cummins and then fill your boots v the rest....considering Stoinis is offering fark all with the bat....perhaps playing an extra bowler in Behrendorf or Richardson may be in order...really needed one of Warner or Finch to go deep.....but ssadly that was not to be.....think Aust will struggle v the good batting sides with bowlers 4&5....Carey did well with the bat to atone for his crucial drop.....

To be honest it would have been very surprising if Australia had beaten India. Australias fate will be determined in games V New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh. Win four out of those five and the Aussies will probably make the semis. In looking at last nights game, India played it very smart by preserving their wickets against Cummins and Starc and then feasting on the lesser bowlers. Australia tried to copy that approach but the Indians had much better bowling options from overs 10 - 30. Warner put too much pressure on the middle order with his ponderous knock, not sure what he was trying to do out there. Pity Finch was run out just as he was starting to wind up.
Overall I think some changes need to be made for the next game. Maybe they need to bring in an extra pace bowler as you said Freezin, with Carey at 6 and Coulter- Nile at 7, leaves the batting a bit vulnerable without doubt but as we saw last night we need more wickets in the power play to be able to be competitive in games. Adam Zampa looks pretty low on confidence at the moment and he doesn't seem to be able to play that holding role in the middle overs that he normally does . May be time to give Lyon a go although I would give Zampa one more crack at it against a lesser side.

Gotta feeling the English weather might curtail a few more games before this WC is completed

Forecast is looking dicey for tonight's game as well as the Australia V Pakistan match in Taunton tomorrow.
