Coming up to that time of the year where the AFL swoops in a decimates all the state leagues young talent.

Should be a right ole pillage at EF with up to 5-6 youngsters definitely in the draft gun. Sounds like L. Jackson will go top ten, with Rivers and Sharp top 25, Ruscoe top 50 and Warner and Jai Jackson late round picks or rookie selections.

Perth have a couple of beauties in Robertson and Taylor....SD have Garcia and Pasini... Cl have Henry and Clark....WP have Prior....Subi have Georgiades....no doubt many more from other clubs too.....

Any mature age possibilities?...the likes of Kelly and Pickett have opened the eyes of many AFL clubs with mature age talent....surely the likes of Bolton, Schloithe, Black, Goddard etc have missed the AFL bus.....

Interesting with Jackson - think there will be much interest with a number of clubs from the get go in the draft. He will more than likely be a late developer though and it will be intriguing if one club just pulls the trigger early and goes for him.
He could be the type of pick that may get you some harsh comparisons early on - by that I mean he may not play as many games in his first few seasons as some and nor have the output in those games. However the upside may well be there by his fourth and fifth seasons.

A lot of hype and posturing going on I reckon mainly aimed at Fremantle. Mostly bluff I’d say. Freezin who is Goddard you mention as one of those mature aged players?

I think Freeze is talking about Jeremy Goddard the big Claremont ruckman who was an AFL Academy player as a 17yo.
One who caught my eye this year was big Ajang Ajang from EP/Ellenbrook who absolutely dominated a game in the Ruck vs SD at Basso mid year. Is stil only in his early 20s, very mobile, still raw but plenty to work with.

Fremantle have done a deal involving Adelaide, Carlton and Melbourne that has resulted in trading pick 10 with pick 8, giving us picks 7 & 8 aimed at fending off early attempts to bid for Liam Henry. It looks like Melbourne have set their sights on using their pick 3 to draft young WA ruck prodigy Luke Jackson.

So who should the Dockers target at 7 & 8 and what does that mean if no earlier bid is placed on Henry, does that then end their draft night with the remainder of their picks being bundled together to cover the points value of Henry (he won’t last in the draft to their next pick at 49)

Has to be midfielders and small forwards so Robertson and Henry for me.

Bloody hell I won’t even try to understand how these so called “priority academy players” work. So Fremantle had first rights to Liam Henry but because another club (Carlton) bids on him at pick 9 Fremantle have to give up a shed load of future and current picks to get him. I reckon it would be easier to learn how to build a rocket than how this system works.

Anyway seems like Fremantle came out if with their man who looks like a ripper and picked up another couple of Victorians who have formed a close friendship in Hayden Young who is touted as the best kick in the draft and Caleb Serong, a small forward/ midfielder with clean hands.

Devin Robertson was overlooked in the first round apparently due to question marks over his kicking ability but sounds like he’ll get snapped up in the second round. Sounds a similar type to Luke Valente who Fremantle picked up around pick 35 last year. He was All Australian captain I think and SA captain that won the title.

Luke Jackson off to Melbourne at pick 3 will be one to watch in future years and will possibly be a target of Fremantle or WC to bring home down the track.

Michael Walters said Henry is the best kick he's ever seen which is a rather big call!
I see Georgiades went earlier than expected at 18 to port power, Schofield would have had alot to do with that I'd say.

Pretty good effort by Georgiades given he was out injured all of 2019, made a big impression the previous year and as you say, Schoey would know all about him. Wish him well, still remember his old man had a massive 1988 finals series kicking something like 23 goals and dominating up forward against the Tiges in the GF.
