Eagles picked two local kids. Freo didn't rate locals.

Well 21 picks went before Deven Robertson so several other clubs didn’t rate him as high as others and Melbourne took Luke Jackson at 3 so what do you expect? Just go local for local sake?

In hindsight the big fuck up was 2017 not taking Aaron Naughton and Tim Kelly. WC also picked Oscar Allen over Tim Kelly. We picked Bradshaw at 2 and Cerra at 4. But commentators are saying we got a steal getting Hayden Young at 7 saying most clubs would have taken him at 3 if they had the chance. He and Serong are mates so if they turn out to be guns hopefully they turn out to be one club players. Liam Henry looks like being something special and looks like he’s got his head screwed on right.

Yep agree DD with your comment around Aaron Naughton in particular. I recall when the chunder left him out of their 2017 GF team I think it was to make way for a Freo player and thought back even then he was going to be a star based on what I saw of him as a defender. Freo really missed one there from right under their noses.

You know who that Freo player was BC? Zac farken Dawson. Captains pick by RL. Oh well at least that chapter is behind us now. Onwards and upwards.

How many WA boys got drafted in the end?....15-16?....not surprised Robertson went later then anticipated....bit of talk his disposal is dodgy...gets a lot of the footy and obviously talented....Brisbane look like an up n coming club, so fingers crossed the kid does well.

Yep...I remember that DD. What made it even worse was that Dawson should have been rubbed out and not available for taking out Liam Baker when he ran past the bouncing ball in the QF from memory and knocked him clean out when Baker had eyes on the ball....a more gutless dog act you'll never see if you don't include the tribunal for finding Dawson not guilty.

Up to 20 now apparently after a few more picked up as category B rookies including a few exciting indigenous boys.

Anthony Treacy has some genuine talent, bit of pace and some really nice evasive skills, big call but I reckon he can become part of the Eagles 22 next year
