The Eagles played on the Sunday, Freo on the Saturday. Freo's mention would be in the Sunday's paper, hence Eagles mention being in the Monday's.
Doesn't take too much of a brain surely.

shwaborn.....you would be suprised!!

BTW on the WCE/Cousins saga, saying that WCE knew full well about him.....you can throw that same blanket over every AFL club!! And while your at it, might aswell punish them all the same and the players the same....which onbviously did not happen.

Agree with you Mikeh....WA beating Vic would have made for a much better cover page or back page!!

Common knowledge about the eagles.....common knowledge about all clubs...every club has at least one player that it is common knowledge that they are a bit off the rails.

The AFL forced WCE's hand on the issue. Everyone knows they were the ones putting the pressure on WCE which lead to Ben's sacking. Then a double punishment for him he was banned for 12 months. Then after that it is just the AFL turning a blind eye to all incidents!!

So what you are really saying is that because you didnt know other players were not on drugs, then obviously it isnt common knowledge? Hate to break it to you, but it has been known for a long time and by a lot of people that there is a heap of drug use in the AFL. Very common knowledge, even going back a fair few years.

I agree with you there, WCE had no sanctions or penalties. But they were forced to sack this player. When Liberatore was found with drugs on him, was that Victorian club forced to sack him? No. So seems that WCE were treated differently in the circumstances. Hardly seems fair.

Michael Johnson as well, found with Cocaine.....hardly even a slap on the wrist....

Not sure I agree with that. You are assuming that the club knew all about Ben Cousins away from football. But if you know anyone close to him or have read his book, he did not make it a known fact until after he was sacked that he did have a problem and did drugs at all. Also he did not confine in anyone about it so really no one knew and it was just speculation. WCE may have had their thoughts and I am sure they offereed councelling and help as any concerned club would do, but the fact he denied having a problem and was performing well etc how can a club just take a hard stance with no evidence and penalise him?

So all the rumours regarding Buddy franklin.....if he is to one day be caught with say 1 ecstacy tablet in his pocket on a night out, you agree that it is the Hawks fault for "choosing to sweep it under the carpet" and Buddy should be sacked from Hawks and should be sackeed from the AFL for a year?

Sort of the same situation, one could argue all this speculation over buddy and drugs and hawks denying it and hiding it. But what you are saying is that the Hawks should be doing something about it now, rather than sweep it under the table, even if Buddy doesnt have a drug problem....he should still be penalized.

Doesnt add up to me.....

Fair call haha guess we sort of agree on some points and not on others. No point continuing on about it.

Just hope that the media and word of mouth does not get a good player a bad rep and a punishment they are not entitled too. Not saying Cousins wasnt entitled to his punishment, and as WCE supporter i know these boys will and have done wrong.
