The AFL has a problem on its hands when it's clear as the nose on your face that certain clubs such as Hawthorn, Sydney and Geelong see themselves as power clubs that will do anything to avoid the natural process that would see them fall in a natural decline on the ladder after a successful era and rebuild through early draft picks from a few years down or near the bottom to build for their next era.

Hawthorn it seems is preparing itself to make a play for the likes of Fyfe and Martin in the next couple of years by moving on a few veterans and making room in the salary cap.

So in other words, the Hawthorn football club sees itself as having the right to continue to be a club blessed with success at the expense of clubs that are starved of success.

They can bid all they like Freo will and can match any offer the Hawks put up and that's all they have to do considering Fyfe is a restricted free agent.

Don't really see your point DD. I don't think there would be a club around (including Freo) that would say "we've had a few years of success, so lets go to the bottom of the ladder and give other clubs a shot at a flag". Especially when they have the resources to stay on top. I don't say I particularly like it because we've seen WA clubs buying flags, but its all about memberships and money. It will always be this way.

It's just good business.. don't get bitter get better..

Fyfe seems to be fairly driven, will chase premierships. I reckon he will go.

If pav has taught us anything it's that it's probably best to move on from freo if u want real success.
