The barbs and the banter are all fine and part of the theatre. As soon as somebody throws something, that is totally different and putting the health and safety of the player at risk. A few weeks back Nick Riewoldt was given a pat on the back by a supporter when he was close to the boundary. It was a friendly pat and no harm was intended but even this is not acceptable. There should be no physical contact between the players and supporters ( unless it is an accident such as a player tumbling over the fence). The woman who threw the banana at Eddie Betts should be identified and banned if she is a member of Port Adelaide. Apart from the obvious racial implications, it is the fact that she threw an object at a player which is the crucial issue. It could have been a knife remember.

Booing Goodes and Jetta , calling Aboriginals gorillas , throwing bananas at Betts , Afl still has a long long way to go.

why do we always play the race card when something happens to an indigenous person? I saw the vision...there were 3 or 4 Adelaide players in the immediate vicinity...who's to say it was aimed at Betts and even if it was, how do we know it's race related?

I'm not condoning or criticizing the actions of one person other than to say she shouldn't be throwing stuff at anyone but it chits me that fans can boo Crowley, Boomer Harvey, umpires and that's not an issue..but as soon as it happens to an aboriginal player, straight away the PC brigade say its racially based.

Probably a career Centrelink customer with 6 kids to 2 or 3 different fathers. When she cooks it's probably 2 minute noodles. Classic white trash.

I do agree with BC in as much as it gets a bit tiring when people reach for the R card only when it suits them.

ok...and do we know if she made the comment based on his physical appearance or his race? does she consider all Aboriginal people to be monkeys or just Betts? did she do the same to Charlie Cameron?
