Watched most of the derby. It was a great effort by the Eagles considering the personnel they were missing and those that went down during the day. They were able to hit the scoreboard hard in the first quarter when they had all the momentum and then held off Freo pretty comfortably in the last 3. It never really got to the stage where the Dockers were threatening to snatch the game even though they were coming home hard in the last quarter.

The Eagles challenge now is to get up again for the confident Bulldogs. Lecras will be back and possibly Nicnat but they will probably lose Cripps and Schofield so its like revolving doors

From a Freo point of view, Lyon would not be so concerned about the defeat as the reliance they have on a handful of players to get them going. Its no coincidence that they played better in the 2nd half on the back of a massive lift from Fyfe supported by Sandilands. Hill was also very good. Too many of the others made basic errors and looked totally sloppy for most of the day. At the moment I cannot see how the Dockers are going to kick enough goals to win a final and their defence has fallen away even against weaker opposition in recent weeks. Hawthorn won't be shaking in their boots watching todays game.

There is still a fair way to go but Lyon needs to find a way to get 3 or 4 goals more per game out of their forward line to take the pressure off their defence. He may need to play Fyfe forward and challenge his other mid fielders to pick up the slack. Silvani is one who won't be playing for a few weeks after that cheap shot at Cripps. Complete brain fade

Kennedy monstered Jjohnson. Silvagni stupid all day. So many free kicks and then that stupid elbow.

Still think anything can happen in the finals.

would have been nice to have Fyfe going from the start and obviously never seen Barlow play so bad.

Peel got walloped too.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Still think Freo has too many "battlers" I speak of Duffield Sutciffe Be boer Mugunzi,Crozier, cant carry that many "soldiers" in a GF.
Also not 100% on Daryl Pearce once the real whips are cracking.
Time will tell.
Surprised Barlow got subbed off so early.

Thats utter Bullshit!!

How does Ross'y boy and the Dockers control what happens in the Eagles remaining games??

2 tough games Western Bulldogs home and Adelaide away.
Eagles must win all remaining 3 as Hawthorn has a much easier last 3 games draw.
I think there is still a real possiblity of the Eagles finishing 3rd.

Nothing orchestrated about todays result other than the Eagles were the better team on the day!!

Dodgy result, what a pile of crap!!

I only watched the first half & to be perfectly honest I thought the Dockers were bloody useless. Just 2 goals to half time, damage done for Eagles. Ross was going ape in the box, can't blame him. Considering the outs for Eagles, I didn't give them a chance. That first quarter was similar to what Richmond did to them at Subiaco. It was a gutsy win by the Eagles.

Yep, half asleep in the first half, mentioned on PR this morning the Lyon wasnt that bothered with winning the game with a view to try and keep hawks 3rd.

Too hard to throw a game and I'm sure The Dockers didn't throw the game today. Eagles were very good in the first quarter and Freo very poor with kicking and marking. One team had to win the game to stay second and they wanted it a bit more.

I think your trying to get a rise out of a few Bazza :P you stirring mongrel .
If Freo didn't want to win, they strangely fought hard to get back in it?
I've never ever seen a top side / or a premiership lined side accept a loss. That is playing with form and fire. If that was actually the case, Freo won't have a hope in hell of winning a flag even with a double chance. But I think that's garbage, Freo are as good a shot as any. They simply got outgunned on the day.

North should be as desperate next week as the Eagles were today. It is a must win as we are not safe in the eight yet. If Zeibell gets rubbed out it will bloody hurt. He needs to pull his head out of his rear end that boy. Let's the team down with such a vital game coming up! We need to throw everything at the Dockers & make them second guess. Huge finals campaign coming up for Freo, time to put some doubts in their minds. I'm sure North know what is required .
