No Good Friday game for the AFL next year. Fantastic, Subi will happily host another bumper crowd and one of the only places to wet your parched throats on the day.

They reckon they want to make the fixture more fan friendly ..well it was fan friendly for 100 years or more with NO good friday game, crowds flocked to the games Saturdays without all this BS of Monday Tuesday and Thursdays and on Family Holiday days, ..seems to me the more they stuff around with the ficturing the more people turn away.

Well actually fans flock to games on a Monday, Tuesday and Thursday when it is a public holiday (most people do not have to work or go to school). Anzac day and the Queens Birthday holiday for the AFL and foundation/W.A day for the W.A.F.L are good examples.

Maybe this should be about choice - the A.F.L can give fans the choice. Those more pious or god fearing can go to church or reflect how ever they choose and those more devoted to footy can get their fix by going to a match or staring at the box, or go to pub and watch it with mates - so the pubs will have to be opened too.

So why are they having games on bloody Monday nights at half empty grounds?

The VFL AFL has survived just fine without Good Friday footy.,,for decades,,,Easter Saturday and Monday is available as is every other Friday of the year,,,FFs what's so hard about having one Friday off,

Just because crowds on non public holiday monday nights have been poor does not mean a good friday match can not draw a decent crowd. Does anzac day not see big crowds for the pies/dons? How many people attended the dees pies match on the queens birthday holiday this year? A match played on a monday.

Another issue is that rival codes are playing matches on the good friday whilst the A.F.L chooses to put its head in the sand.
